Huawei: Turn Personal Hotspot On or Off

When other devices show no internet connection through your Huawei phone, the personal hotspot is often switched off or was never configured. You can also give it a custom name and password so people around you connect quickly without sharing your regular Wi-Fi.

Turn Personal Hotspot On or Off auf Huawei

Huawei phones leave the personal hotspot switched off by default, so other devices show no connection until you enable it manually.

The toggle sits inside the mobile network tethering options, together with the hotspot name, password and the number of devices allowed to join.

Open SettingsMobile networkTethering & portable hotspotPersonal hotspot, then use the switch to activate or deactivate Personal hotspot.

Tap the same entry after switching it on to rename the hotspot or set a new password, useful when several people ask for access and you do not want to hand out your home Wi-Fi credentials.

Turning the hotspot off disconnects every connected device immediately and stops mobile data sharing, which also helps if you notice unusually high data usage on your plan.

If the toggle stays greyed out, check that mobile data itself is turned on first, since Personal hotspot needs an active data connection to share with other devices.
