Huawei: Change the Home Screen and Lock Screen Wallpaper

If your Huawei phone still shows the wallpaper it came with, or the lock screen and home screen no longer match a picture you saved, the wallpaper settings are easy to miss inside the display menu. Many people only find the gallery picker or the preinstalled wallpaper collection by accident. Knowing where EMUI separates lock screen, home screen and combined wallpaper options saves a lot of tapping around.

Change the Wallpaper auf Huawei

The wallpaper on a Huawei phone is managed from one central menu, but it controls two separate screens: the lock screen and the home screen. That separation is why a picture set once does not automatically appear everywhere, and why some users think the change did not save.

To update it, open Open the settingsTap on Home screen & wallpaperTap on Wallpaper. From here you can pick a photo from your own gallery or select one of the preinstalled wallpapers that come with the device.

After choosing an image, tap Save. EMUI then asks where the wallpaper should apply: Lock screen, Home screen, or Both. Selecting only one keeps the other screen on its previous image, which is useful if you want a plain lock screen but a personal home screen, or the other way around.

If the wallpaper still looks unchanged afterward, check that you picked the correct target screen in that last step rather than repeating the whole process.

Frequently asked questions

You likely selected only Home screen in the final step. Repeat the steps and choose Both or Lock screen instead.
