Huawei: Connect to Wi-Fi via WPS Without a Password

Typing a long Wi-Fi password on a Huawei phone is easy to get wrong, especially with mixed-case or special characters. If your router has a WPS button, you can skip password entry entirely and pair the devices directly. This only works if WPS is enabled on the router and the phone is close enough to receive the signal.

Connect to Wi-Fi via WPS auf Huawei

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) lets a Huawei phone join a wireless network without entering the password manually. Instead, the phone and router exchange a short-lived key once you trigger the pairing on both devices within a limited time window, usually around two minutes.

On EMUI, the WPS option sits inside the Wi-Fi settings, separate from the regular network list. The function only appears if your router supports and has WPS enabled, since older or heavily locked-down routers may hide or disable this feature by default.

To start the pairing, open Open the SettingsTap on Wi-FiOpen the menuOpen the SettingsTap on WPS connection, then immediately press the WPS button on the router.

The connection completes automatically once both sides confirm the handshake. If nothing happens within the time window, the phone falls back to the normal network list and you will need to enter the password manually.

WPS is convenient for one-time setups or guest devices, but it is not meant as a permanent replacement for password-based Wi-Fi, since some network administrators disable it entirely for security reasons.

Frequently asked questions

Not all routers support WPS, and some hide the option inside their admin interface instead of a physical button. Check the router manual or its web settings for a WPS toggle before trying the pairing from Tap on WPS connection on the phone.
