Copy Contacts to Phone, SIM or Google
If your contacts are split between the SIM card, phone storage and your Google account, finding the right entry gets confusing fast. Huawei's Contacts app lets you duplicate existing entries and move them to a different storage location, including contacts that came in through WhatsApp. This matters before swapping a SIM or when you want every contact backed up in the same place.
Enable or Disable Call Forwarding
By default, your Huawei phone forwards calls according to your carrier's standard settings, not your own preferences. Calls might get diverted whenever your line is busy, goes unanswered or your device is unreachable, even if you never asked for that behavior. Each of these three forwarding conditions can be switched on or off separately.
Share Contacts as QR Code, vCard or Text
Typing a phone number by hand often creates a typo, and reading a name out loud rarely transfers the full address book entry. Huawei phones offer three separate ways to send a saved contact, and picking the wrong one means the recipient gets an unreadable file or misses details like the company name or a second phone number.
Reject an Incoming Call
A call rings right when you are in a meeting or a conference and picking up is not an option. On Huawei phones you decline it with a single gesture on the lock screen, without unlocking the device or digging into any menu.
Allow Calls and SMS for a Secondary User
When you add a second user profile on a Huawei phone, that account can be blocked from making calls, sending texts, or seeing the shared call and message history by default. This gets confusing fast if a family member or coworker expects to use the phone normally but calls fail silently or messages never arrive under their profile.
Add Contact Shortcut to Home Screen
Every time you need to call your parents or message a close friend, digging through the Contacts app costs time. Huawei lets you pin a contact straight to the home screen as a shortcut, so a single tap opens the contact, starts a call, or opens a message thread. This works for one contact at a time, and you can repeat it for as many people as you need.
Add Emergency Contacts
When Emergency SOS gets turned on for the first time on a Huawei phone, EMUI only sets up one emergency contact by default. If a fall or crash triggers an SOS alert later, that single contact might not be the person who can respond fastest. Many users never notice that up to three emergency contacts can actually be stored.
Block a Contact
Getting repeated calls or texts from a number you want nothing to do with is annoying, especially when it keeps happening after you have already ignored several attempts. On EMUI, unwanted contacts stay reachable until you actively block them at the contact level, so calls and messages keep coming through by default. This applies to any contact saved on your Huawei phone, not just unknown numbers.
Add a New Contact
Adding a contact on your Huawei phone with just a name and number skips details like birthday, address, or a relationship note. Many people also miss the option to set a custom ringtone for a single contact right when they create it. Those extra fields exist, they just sit one step further than the basic form.
Enable or Disable SMS Delivery Reports
If a text message you sent never shows a delivered confirmation, your Huawei phone likely has SMS delivery reports turned off. This function is meant to send back a status update once the message reaches the recipient's device. On some Huawei phones it stays disabled by default, so you never see that confirmation appear.
Set Default Phone App
If a third-party dialer or call-recording app does not open automatically when you tap a contact or make a call, your Huawei phone is likely still routing calls through the built-in Phone app. Some apps offer caller ID, spam blocking, or call recording that only work once they are set as the default. Android lets you switch the default calling app in the system settings at any time.
Share a Calendar Event
When you want to send a meeting time or event details to a friend or colleague, forwarding a Calendar entry directly saves you from retyping the date and location. On Huawei phones running EMUI, this option sits inside the event details screen rather than the main app menu, so it is easy to overlook the first time you look for it. Without it, you end up describing the appointment manually instead of sending the real entry.
Speed Dial a Saved Contact
Typing out a full number every time you call the same person gets old fast on a Huawei phone. Speed dial lets you reach a saved contact with a single tap and hold, but many users never notice the option sitting right in the dial pad. On Dual SIM devices there is an extra step, since you also pick which SIM line places the call.
Assign a Contact to Speed Dial
If you want to call your most-used contacts without scrolling through your list every time, speed dial numbers let you jump straight to them. On most Huawei phones this shortcut stays inactive until you link a number key to a contact yourself. Once set, a long press on that number key starts the call directly from the dialer.
Create a New Calendar Event
Missed appointments often trace back to calendar entries saved without the right details on your Huawei phone. Without a title, location, or correct start and end time, reminders can end up incomplete or missing entirely. This affects meetings, appointments, and personal reminders alike.
