SMS Delivery Reports: Enable or Disable

When you send a text message, you often have no way of knowing whether it actually landed on the recipient's phone. On OnePlus phones, a hidden setting can request a delivery report from your carrier for every SMS you send. If that option is turned off, or you are not sure which SIM it applies to on a dual SIM device, you will keep sending messages blind.

Contact List Name Format

If your OnePlus contact list shows entries as Last, First instead of First Last, or the other way round, one system setting controls that order for every saved contact at once. It has nothing to do with how the individual entries were sorted or saved.

Change Default Dialer App

If the stock Phone app on your OnePlus feels limited or the call screen does not match the rest of your setup, you do not have to keep using it. Third-party dialer apps from the Google Play Store can take over outgoing calls, contact lookup and the call screen instead.

Block a Phone Number from the Call History

If a caller keeps showing up in your history even though you never saved the number, blocking it straight from the call list saves you from digging through the Phone app settings. This works for spam calls, prize-scam numbers, or contacts you never added, no matter if the calls were incoming or outgoing. The block applies system-wide, so future calls and texts from that number get silenced automatically.

Set Default Account for New Contacts

If your OnePlus phone keeps asking which account to use every time you save a new contact, that prompt comes from having no default account set for new contacts. This gets especially annoying when you juggle a Google account alongside a local phone or SIM storage. Setting one fixed default account stops the repeated pop-up and keeps every new entry in the same place.

Send an SMS Message

If you can't find where to start a new text or your message won't go through, you might be looking in the wrong app on your OnePlus phone. A plain SMS - no photos, no attachments - only works through the built-in Messages app and needs nothing more than a recipient and a typed text. Confusing this with a chat or RCS conversation is the most common reason people get stuck.
