Enable or Disable NFC
Contactless payment fails at checkout, or your OnePlus won't pair with a speaker or headphones by tap - in most cases NFC is simply switched off. Some users also want to disable NFC on purpose, either to save a bit of battery or to avoid accidental taps against payment terminals in a crowded bag. On several OxygenOS builds the toggle isn't in the quick panel at all, which is why people keep searching for it in the wrong place.
Connect to Wi-Fi Using a QR Code
Typing a long Wi-Fi password on a shared or guest network gets tedious fast, especially with mixed-case letters and symbols. Scanning a QR code lets your OnePlus phone join the network without any manual entry. This works with a printed code or one generated by another device already connected to that network.
Show Network Speed in Status Bar
If your status bar only shows signal bars and no numbers, you can't tell whether your connection is actually fast enough for streaming or a big download. OnePlus phones can display live download and upload speed right next to the clock, but the toggle sits inside the display settings and is easy to overlook. Without it enabled, you only notice a slow connection once a video buffers or a transfer stalls.
Send Photos or Videos via Bluetooth
Sending a photo or video from your OnePlus phone to a laptop, smart TV or another smartphone only works once both devices are paired over Bluetooth. If the Bluetooth entry is missing from the Share menu, or the paired device never shows up in the list, the transfer stalls before it starts. This applies to photos, videos and PDF files the same way.
Unpair a Bluetooth Device
If a OnePlus phone keeps reconnecting to a Bluetooth speaker, inEars, or a laptop you no longer use, the old pairing entry is still sitting in the device list. That stored entry can grab audio playback automatically as soon as the other device is nearby and switched on. Removing the pairing clears the entry completely instead of just switching the connection off.
Select Network Automatically
If your OnePlus phone still shows a foreign carrier after a trip abroad, or displays no service while coverage should be fine, manual network selection is likely still switched on. This often happens after the phone registered with a local network abroad and never switched back to automatic mode.
Turn Bluetooth On or Off
If your OnePlus phone refuses to connect to earbuds, headphones or a speaker, Bluetooth is often simply switched off. Leaving the radio active when you are not using it also drains the battery faster than necessary and can trigger unwanted pairing prompts from nearby devices.
Connect via Wi-Fi Direct
Trying to send a photo or mirror your screen from your OnePlus to a Smart TV or Fire TV Stick only works if both devices can actually see each other over Wi-Fi Direct. If the target device never shows up in the list, Wi-Fi Direct is often still switched off on one side or the receiver is not in pairing mode. A stalled invitation usually points to the same cause.
Restrict Apps to Wi-Fi Only or Mobile Data
If Netflix, YouTube or another streaming app keeps eating through your mobile data plan even when you are near a router, it is likely still allowed to use mobile data in the background. OxygenOS lets you lock individual apps to Wi-Fi only, or the reverse, so they never touch your cellular connection again. This is separate from the general data saver toggle and works per app.
Set Up an APN Manually
If mobile data or MMS stops working right after you swap SIM cards, your OnePlus likely never received the correct Access Point Name. OxygenOS normally pulls these settings automatically from your carrier, but that handoff often fails with prepaid SIMs, MVNOs, or after a factory reset. The network bars still show a connection while data transfer silently fails in the background.
Show WiFi Password as QR Code
Typing out a long WiFi password for guests or family members gets old fast, especially with mixed-case letters and symbols. OnePlus phones can turn the saved network credentials into a scannable QR code instead. Anyone with a phone or tablet camera can then join the network without ever seeing or typing the actual password.
Turn Off Wi-Fi Direct
Wi-Fi Direct on your OnePlus phone keeps running in the background even after a file transfer or screen mirroring session is finished. As long as one paired device stays linked, the feature does not switch off by itself and can quietly drain battery or block a new pairing attempt.
Change SIM PIN
Every new SIM card arrives with a default four-digit PIN chosen by your carrier, not by you. That random number is easy to forget, and entering it wrong three times locks the SIM card until you dig out the PUK code from your provider. Swapping it for a PIN you can actually remember keeps the SIM protected without that risk.
Enable or Disable Google Location History
OnePlus phones automatically log your location and send it to Google to power personalized maps, recommendations and search results. If you want to check whether this feature is running in the background or shut it off completely, the setting sits inside your Google Account rather than a OnePlus-specific menu. Many users only discover it after noticing Google Maps knows exactly where they have been.
Move Contacts to Another Storage Location
If contacts on your OnePlus phone are split between internal storage and a Google Account, they stop syncing consistently across your devices. This matters most before a phone swap or when you want a shared contact list to update everywhere at once. Moving a contact keeps every stored detail intact while changing which account manages it.
Enable or Disable Airplane Mode
Flight crews and many transit systems require you to fully disconnect your phone from every network before departure. Switching off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile data one by one takes too long and it is easy to forget one of them. Airplane mode on your OnePlus handles all three connections with a single switch.
Enable or Disable Nearby Share
When Nearby Share does not show up during file transfers, or a nearby OnePlus phone stays invisible to friends, the setting is often switched off or blocked by disabled Bluetooth and location. Since Nearby Share can also spin up a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot, restrictive data or connectivity settings can silently stop transfers as well.
Share Internet Access via Bluetooth
If a paired laptop, tablet or second phone cannot get online through your OnePlus, the Bluetooth connection itself is often fine but data sharing is switched off. Bluetooth pairing alone does not grant internet access, that permission has to be enabled separately for each paired device. Without it, the linked gadget stays connected but offline.
Auto-Download System Updates over Wi-Fi
If your OnePlus keeps pulling firmware updates over your mobile data plan, or never downloads them until you check manually, the Auto-download over Wi-Fi setting is controlling that behavior. Once enabled, updates download automatically the moment your phone joins a wireless network, and you get notified when installation is ready. Turning it off stops silent downloads but means you have to check for updates yourself.
Enable or Disable Emergency Location Service (ELS)
When you dial an emergency number on a OnePlus phone, the device can send your location automatically even if Google Location Services are switched off. Some users want to stop this behavior, others find that ELS silently re-enables location access during a call and are unsure whether that is expected. The setting sits in a spot most people never check until an emergency call raises the question.
Auto-Disconnect from Network at Data Limit
If mobile data suddenly stops working right after you cross your monthly allowance on a OnePlus phone, a built-in limiter is likely the cause, not a network outage. This goes beyond the usual data warning: OxygenOS can automatically kill every cellular data connection once the billing cycle limit is reached. Wi-Fi stays untouched, so calls and browsing over a home or office network keep running.
