New contacts on a OnePlus phone often end up incomplete because the save step gets skipped before a number or extra detail is entered. The Contacts app only stores what you fill in before tapping Save, so a half-finished entry stays that way until you go back and edit it.
To add a contact correctly, open Open the Contacts app ➔ Tap on Add ➔ Enter a name ➔ Enter a phone number ➔ Tap on Save. The name and number are the only fields that matter for the entry to be usable right away, but you can also fill in an address, a website or a company name on the same screen before saving.
Once saved, the contact becomes searchable and shows up when you place a call, send a message or share details with another app. If you only need a quick one-off number for a single message, saving a full contact is not necessary; a temporary entry in the messaging app works just as well without cluttering your contact list.
Contacts created this way are stored locally on the phone unless you have a sync account set up, so back up important entries if you plan to switch devices.
