Enable or Disable Automatic App Updates auf OnePlus
Automatic app updates on a OnePlus phone are controlled entirely by the Play Store, not by OxygenOS itself. That is why this setting survives most system resets but gets reset if you reinstall or clear the Play Store app.
When the option is set to update over any network, apps download new versions the moment they are published, even on mobile data. This can cause unexpected data usage on limited plans. When updates are switched off completely, apps stop receiving new features and, more importantly, security patches, until you update them manually.
Where to change it
Open Play Store ➔ tap your profile icon to open the menu ➔ go to Settings ➔ tap on Auto-update apps. You get three choices: Over any network, Over Wi-Fi only, or Don't auto-update apps. Confirm your choice with Done.
For most people, Over Wi-Fi only is the safer middle ground: apps stay current without touching mobile data. Choose Don't auto-update apps only if you need full control over which version an app runs, for example while testing.
