OnePlus: Connect to Wi-Fi Using a QR Code

Typing a long Wi-Fi password on a shared or guest network gets tedious fast, especially with mixed-case letters and symbols. Scanning a QR code lets your OnePlus phone join the network without any manual entry. This works with a printed code or one generated by another device already connected to that network.

Connect to Wi-Fi Using a QR Code auf OnePlus

Wi-Fi passwords with long strings of letters, numbers and symbols slow down every new connection, especially on networks you only use once, like a cafe or an office guest network.

OnePlus phones running OxygenOS can skip that step entirely by scanning a QR code that already contains the network name and password. The phone reads the encoded credentials through the camera and joins the network on its own, without you typing anything.

To use this, open Open the SettingsTap on Wi-Fi & networkTap on Wi-FiTap on Add network via QR code. Point the camera at the printed or displayed code and the connection completes automatically.

This only works if a valid QR code exists for the network. Some routers generate one in their admin panel, and any Android phone already connected can create a shareable code from its own Wi-Fi settings for guests to scan.

If no QR code is available, you still need the standard password entry. Scanning also fails if the code is damaged, poorly lit, or encodes a network that has since changed its password.
