OnePlus: Enable or Disable Bluetooth Contact Sharing

When you pair your OnePlus with a car radio or a laptop, that device often asks to read your saved contacts so it can show caller names or start calls by voice. If that request pops up every time you reconnect, or you want to stop a specific device from reading your address book, the setting sits per paired device rather than as one global switch.

Bluetooth Contact Sharing On or Off auf OnePlus

Bluetooth contact sharing lets a paired device such as a car radio, headset or laptop pull the names and numbers stored on your OnePlus. Car systems use this to show caller names on the dashboard or to start calls through a voice command. Laptops and some headsets use it mainly to display who is calling.

This permission is set separately for every paired device, not as one master switch. Pairing a new car radio does not automatically carry over the setting from an older one, which is why you may see the request again after reconnecting or after a factory reset of the car unit.

To change it, open SettingsBluetooth & device connectionBluetooth, then tap the paired device you want to adjust. Inside that device's own settings screen you find the toggle for contact sharing, which you can switch on or off at any time.

Turning it off does not disconnect the Bluetooth link and does not stop regular calls or audio. It only blocks that specific device from reading your saved contact names and numbers, so incoming calls may show as a plain number instead of a name on that device's display.

If you use several paired devices, check each one individually. A setting changed on your car radio has no effect on a paired laptop or smartwatch.

Frequently asked questions

Some head units drop the stored permission after a software update or reset and treat the next pairing as new. Go to SettingsBluetooth & device connectionBluetooth, open the car radio entry and re-enable Contact sharing if it shows as off.
