Change Default Search Engine in Chrome auf OnePlus
On a OnePlus phone running OxygenOS, Chrome uses Google as the default search engine for anything typed into the address bar. This setting lives in the browser app itself, not in the phone's system settings, which is why it is easy to overlook.
The search engine setting controls three things: which provider handles address bar queries, which service generates autocomplete suggestions, and which results page opens when you tap search. Switching providers changes all three at once.
To change it, open Open the Chrome app ➔ Open the menu ➔ Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Search engine ➔ Choose a search engine. From the list you can pick between Google, Yahoo!, Bing, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia.
This setting is scoped to Chrome only. If you also use another browser app, such as Firefox or Samsung Internet, you need to repeat the change separately inside that app's own settings menu.
Switching away from Google can slightly change how autocomplete predicts your queries, since each provider builds suggestions from its own search index. If you rely on Google-specific features like direct answer boxes or Google Lens integration, keep in mind that other providers do not replicate those results.
