OnePlus: Change the Default Home Screen Launcher

If your OnePlus phone still opens the stock home screen after installing a new launcher from the Play Store, the wrong app is still set as default. This mix-up shows up when widgets, icons or shortcuts do not match the launcher you expected to use. Switching the default Home app fixes which interface controls your start screen.

Change Default Home Launcher auf OnePlus

On OnePlus phones running OxygenOS, the Home app setting decides which launcher controls your start screen, widgets and app drawer. After installing a new launcher from the Play Store, Android sometimes keeps the previous one active instead of switching automatically.

This happens because the system treats every launcher as just another app entry under default apps, and it only switches when you confirm the choice manually. If the old interface keeps reappearing after a reboot or update, the default assignment was never changed.

Switch the default launcher

Open SettingsApps & notificationsDefault appsHome app ➔ select the launcher you want to use as your default Home/Launcher app.

Once selected, your phone applies the new launcher immediately without a restart. Widgets and shortcuts from the previous launcher may need to be added again, since each launcher stores its own layout.

If a launcher does not appear in the list, reinstall it from the Play Store first. Uninstalling a launcher that is currently set as default automatically falls back to the OxygenOS system launcher.

Frequently asked questions

If the Home app was never changed in Default apps, Android reopens the previous launcher automatically after every reboot.
