OnePlus: Show a Custom Message on the Lock Screen

If your OnePlus gets lost, whoever finds it has no way to reach you unless your name or contact info shows up before the device unlocks. The lock screen normally only displays the time and notifications, nothing personal. A short custom line on the Ambient display can close that gap.

Set a Lock Screen Message auf OnePlus

The default OnePlus lock screen only shows the time, date, and notifications. Nothing on it identifies who owns the phone or how to reach that person.

Ambient display includes a dedicated text field for exactly this purpose. Whatever you type there stays visible on the lock screen without anyone having to unlock the phone first.

To turn it on: Open the SettingsTap on DisplayTap on Ambient displayTap on Display messageEnter a display messagetap Save.

Keep the text short. A name plus one contact method, such as an email address, is usually enough. Skip full addresses or anything that could put your privacy or safety at risk.

This message is visible to anyone who picks up the phone, including strangers in public places. If that feels too exposed, a temporary wallpaper note or a dedicated contact card in your device profile can work as a less permanent alternative.
