The default OnePlus lock screen only shows the time, date, and notifications. Nothing on it identifies who owns the phone or how to reach that person.

Ambient display includes a dedicated text field for exactly this purpose. Whatever you type there stays visible on the lock screen without anyone having to unlock the phone first.

To turn it on: Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Display ➔ Tap on Ambient display ➔ Tap on Display message ➔ Enter a display message ➔ tap Save.

Keep the text short. A name plus one contact method, such as an email address, is usually enough. Skip full addresses or anything that could put your privacy or safety at risk.
