OnePlus: Turn Find My Device On or Off

If your OnePlus goes missing and Google's Find My Device page marks it as offline, the tracking feature is probably switched off in your security settings. Without it active, you can't locate, ring, lock, or erase the phone remotely from a browser or another device.

Enable or Disable Find My Device auf OnePlus

Find My Device depends on a background location service linked to your Google account. If the toggle is switched off, Google's tracking page shows your OnePlus as offline even with full signal and battery.

The control sits at Open the SettingsTap on Security & lock screenTap on Find my DeviceEnable or disable Find my Device. Turning it on lets you locate, ring, lock, or erase the phone from any browser after signing in with the same Google account used on the device. Turning it off stops remote tracking and removes the phone from that account's device list.

Disabling the feature only makes sense if you rely on a separate tracking app, or if you are wiping and handing over the phone and want no tracking link left behind. For everyday use, leaving it enabled costs almost no battery and gives you a way back if the phone is lost or stolen.

If location still does not update after enabling it, check that background location access and mobile data or Wi-Fi are also active, since Find My Device needs both to report a position.

Frequently asked questions

The phone needs an active internet connection and location access to report its position. Check Open the SettingsTap on Security & lock screenTap on Find my Device and confirm location services are also enabled separately in your privacy settings.
