Move Contacts to Another Storage Location auf OnePlus
Contacts on a OnePlus phone can live in different places: the device's internal storage, a SIM card, or a linked Google Account. A contact that only exists on the device stays local and never syncs anywhere else, which turns into a problem the moment you switch phones or want the same contact list on several devices.
Moving a contact changes which account manages it, but keeps every stored detail, such as phone numbers, email addresses, and notes, intact. This is handled directly inside the Contacts app through its account management, not by a separate migration tool.
How to move a contact
Open the Contacts app ➤ Choose a contact ➤ Open the menu ➤ Tap on Move to another account ➤ Choose an account.
Once you confirm the target account, the contact disappears from its original storage location and shows up under the new account instead. Moving a contact to a Google Account also pushes it to any other device signed in with that same account.
If you only need a backup and want to keep managing the contact locally, exporting it instead of moving it leaves the original copy untouched. Moving works best when you plan to keep using the new account going forward, since the contact no longer exists in its previous location afterward.
