OnePlus: Turn NFC On or Off

Contactless payment fails at checkout, or your OnePlus won't pair with a speaker or headphones by tap - in most cases NFC is simply switched off. Some users also want to disable NFC on purpose, either to save a bit of battery or to avoid accidental taps against payment terminals in a crowded bag. On several OxygenOS builds the toggle isn't in the quick panel at all, which is why people keep searching for it in the wrong place.

Enable or Disable NFC auf OnePlus

NFC (Near Field Communication) lets your OnePlus exchange small amounts of data with another device or terminal over a distance of just a few centimeters. It powers contactless payment apps, quick pairing with NFC-capable headphones or speakers, and tap-to-share transfers.

When NFC is off, mobile payment apps won't detect a terminal, and Bluetooth accessories that rely on tap-to-pair will fall back to manual pairing or fail silently. Turning it off is worth doing if you never use these features and want to shave a small amount of standby power draw, or if you want to avoid unintentional taps while your phone sits in a pocket near card readers.

Where to find the NFC toggle

On OxygenOS the switch lives inside the connectivity settings rather than always being pinned to the quick panel. Go to Open the SettingsTap on Bluetooth & device connectionEnable or disable NFC.

If payments or pairing still don't work after switching NFC on, check that the payment app itself has been set as the default and that the phone's screen is unlocked while tapping, since most terminals and accessories won't respond to a locked device.

Frequently asked questions

Not every OxygenOS layout adds NFC to the quick panel by default. Use Open the SettingsTap on Bluetooth & device connectionEnable or disable NFC instead, and you can add the tile to the quick panel afterward if your version supports it.
