OnePlus: Enable or Disable Power Button Ends Call

Struggling to tap the on-screen End call button during an active call on your OnePlus? A hidden accessibility option lets you hang up with the power button instead, but it only works once the right setting is turned on. Leave it off and pressing the power button just locks the screen while the call keeps running.

Power Button Ends Call Setting auf OnePlus

On OnePlus phones running OxygenOS, the on-screen End call button sits at the bottom of the call screen. If the display is cracked, unresponsive, or hard to reach with one hand, tapping that button reliably becomes a problem, and calls keep running even after you try to hang up.

The accessibility feature Power button ends call moves that action to the physical power key. Once it is turned on, a single press of the power button during an active call disconnects it immediately, without touching the screen at all.

To turn it on or off, open Open the SettingsTap on SystemTap on AccessibilityEnable or disable Power button ends call. The toggle applies system-wide and works for regular calls as well as most calling apps that use the native call screen.

One side effect: with the option enabled, a quick power button press during a call always ends it, even if you only meant to lock the screen for privacy. If that happens too often by accident, turning the setting back off restores the normal power button behavior, where it only locks or wakes the display.

If the real problem is a broken touchscreen rather than just reaching the End call button, a Bluetooth headset with its own hang-up control can be a more reliable workaround than relying on the power button alone.

Frequently asked questions

No. Outside an active call the power button still locks and wakes the screen normally. The change only applies while a call is running.
