OnePlus: Turn Off Screen Animations for a Faster Interface

Every time a menu opens, a shadow renders, or an app window fades in, the system briefly draws extra frames to animate that transition. On OnePlus phones running Oxygenos, this rendering work adds a small but constant load on the GPU and RAM. On devices with limited memory or when several background apps are already running, this shows up as stutter in the Recents view or a short delay when opening Settings submenus.

The Remove animations option in Accessibility strips out these transition effects system-wide. Windows and menus still open and close, but without the fade, scale, or shadow effects layered on top. This is the setting to use if you want a snappier feel across the whole interface, not just in one app.

To change it: Open the Settings ➔ Tap on System ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Enable or disable Remove animations.

If your slowdown only happens in one specific app rather than throughout the whole system, animations are probably not the cause. In that case, check the app's own settings or clear its cache instead. Disabling animations system-wide makes transitions feel abrupt rather than smooth, which some users find jarring at first.
