OnePlus: Remove a Folder from the Home Screen

If a folder keeps sitting on your OnePlus home screen even though you barely use it, there is no direct delete option in OxygenOS. Folders only disappear once every app inside has been moved back out, which trips up a lot of people who expect a simple long-press delete button.

Remove a Home Screen Folder auf OnePlus

OxygenOS treats folders as a container, not as a standalone object you can remove with a single tap. That is why there is no 'Delete folder' entry in any long-press menu on a OnePlus phone.

The folder only exists as long as it holds at least one app. Empty it out and the system removes the container automatically, placing the last app directly on the home screen.

How to clear a folder

Open the folder by tapping it, then use Tap on a folderTap and hold an appDrag the app out of the folders areaRelease the app to position it on home screen. Repeat this for every app inside.

Once only one app remains, OxygenOS deletes the folder shell and drops that last app onto your home screen grid.

This behavior applies regardless of how many apps the folder contains or where it sits on the layout. If you want to keep the apps grouped but move the whole set to a different spot, drag the folder itself first, then empty it in the new location.

Frequently asked questions

OxygenOS does not offer a direct delete action for folders. The container is removed only after you drag every app out of it, following Tap and hold an appDrag the app out of the folders area.
