OnePlus: Rename a Folder on the Home Screen

Folders on your OnePlus home screen often keep the generic name that was assigned automatically when you created them, making it hard to tell them apart at a glance. Renaming them helps you group apps by category or keep the ones you use most together for faster access. The option sits directly on the folder itself, not buried in a settings menu.

Rename a Home Screen Folder auf OnePlus

When you group apps into a folder on a OnePlus home screen, OxygenOS assigns a placeholder name based on the app categories inside it. That name rarely matches how you actually use the apps, which makes folders harder to scan quickly.

Renaming a folder does not move or change any apps inside it. It only updates the label shown underneath the folder icon, so the change is purely cosmetic and fully reversible.

To rename a folder, tap on the folder to open it, then tap on the current name shown at the top. Enter a new name and confirm to save it.

If a folder keeps resetting to a generic name after adding new apps, check whether OxygenOS is still auto-suggesting a category name instead of keeping your custom one. In that case, repeat the renaming step after adding apps to make the change stick.

Frequently asked questions

No. Renaming only changes the label under the folder icon on the home screen. The apps, their data, and their order inside the folder stay exactly the same.
