Send Read Receipts Toggle auf OnePlus
Read receipts in the OnePlus Messages app work like the blue check marks in WhatsApp. Once enabled, anyone you text sees a Read status as soon as you open their message, and you see the same status for messages you send.
This confirmation is separate from delivery reports, which only show that a text arrived on the device, not that it was opened. Turning read receipts off hides the Read status for messages you receive going forward, but it also stops you from seeing when others have read yours, since the setting works both ways for every conversation.
Where to change the setting
The option sits inside the chat settings of the Messages app, not in the general system settings:
Open the Messages app ➔ Open the menu ➔ Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Chat features ➔ Enable or disable Send read receipts
Toggle the switch off if you want privacy while reading messages, or on if you want senders to know their text reached you and was opened. The change applies immediately to new messages and does not affect the read status of texts you already opened before switching it.
If you only want to hide activity for a single person rather than every conversation, this global toggle will not help, since OnePlus Messages applies read receipts app-wide.
