OnePlus: Switch Between Tabs in the Browser App

Losing track of which tab holds the page you need makes comparing prices or reading several articles on your OnePlus browser annoying. The tab counter next to the address bar is easy to overlook, so you end up closing pages by accident instead of just switching to them.

Switch Between Browser Tabs auf OnePlus

On OnePlus phones, the default Chrome app keeps every open website inside a stacked tab view instead of listing them in a menu. The small number badge next to the address bar shows how many tabs are currently open, but it does not reveal their content, which is why users often lose track of a specific page.

Tapping that badge opens the tab overview, where all pages appear as scrollable cards. From there you swipe through the stack and select the one you need instead of retyping a web address or searching your history again.

This method works for any number of open tabs, though performance can slow down once you keep dozens of pages loaded at the same time. If your browser feels sluggish or tabs keep reloading on their own, closing unused ones frees up memory and usually fixes it faster than switching between them.

If tabs vanish completely after restarting the app, background data for Chrome may have been cleared, which is a separate issue from normal tab switching.

Frequently asked questions

Android frees up memory by unloading inactive tabs in the background. Switching back through Tap on Tabs then loads the page again, which looks like a full refresh but is normal system behavior on OnePlus phones.
