Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning for Location Accuracy auf OnePlus
OnePlus phones running Oxygenos use a location feature that keeps Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios scanning in the background, independent of the main Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles.
This scanning helps apps and system services pinpoint your position faster and more accurately, especially indoors or in areas with weak GPS signal. The trade-off is constant background activity: your phone keeps sending out signals to detect nearby networks and devices, which can affect battery life and, for some users, raises privacy concerns.
Turning off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth from the quick settings does not stop this scanning. The setting lives inside the location menu and must be disabled separately.
Where to find the setting
Go to Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Location ➔ Tap on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning ➔ Enable or disable Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth scanning.
From here you can switch off Wi-Fi scanning, Bluetooth scanning, or both, depending on what you want to restrict.
Keep in mind that disabling both scans can make location results less precise, particularly indoors or in dense urban areas where GPS struggles. If you rely on turn-by-turn navigation or indoor maps, test the accuracy after disabling scanning before deciding to leave it off permanently.
If your main concern is battery drain rather than privacy, check your battery usage stats first. Scanning alone rarely causes major battery issues on its own, so other apps might be the bigger factor.
