Turn Auto-correction On or Off
If words get swapped or rewritten while you type, without any underline or tap-to-confirm option, auto-correction is silently editing your text. This sits inside the keyboard settings, not in any messaging app itself. Typing names, slang, or technical terms becomes annoying when the keyboard keeps replacing them on its own.
Turn Google Voice Typing On or Off
If a microphone icon keeps showing up on your Oppo keyboard even though you never asked for voice input, Google voice typing is active by default under ColorOS. It sits inside the keyboard settings alongside your regular input method, so many users only notice it once they tap it by accident. You can switch it off there, or turn it back on if speech input disappeared after an update.
Add a Keyboard Language on Gboard
If you type in more than one language, the default Gboard setup only offers your phone's system language and blocks you from typing accented characters or a different script. Switching the whole system language just to write a message is not necessary. Gboard can hold several languages at once and let you switch between them while typing.
Remove a Keyboard Language from Gboard
If you added several keyboard languages to Gboard on your Oppo phone, swiping through them or long-pressing the spacebar to switch gets tedious fast. Set Default Keyboard Language
If you type in two or three languages on the same Gboard keyboard, one of them always opens first no matter which app you are in. On Oppo phones this order comes from a language list that most people never touch, so the wrong language keeps showing up before you even start typing. Switching manually every time gets old fast once you notice the list itself controls what appears first.
Show or Hide the Emoji Switch Key on Gboard
On Oppo phones with Gboard, an emoji icon sits next to the space bar by default, letting you jump straight into emojis while typing. If you rarely use it, or you actually need that spot for the language switch button instead, the emoji key gets in the way. Both buttons cannot be shown at the same time, so one always replaces the other.
Turn Emoji Suggestions On or Off in Gboard
If Gboard keeps popping up emoji suggestions while you type, or if none show up at all even though you want them, the Show emoji suggestions option in the text correction settings is likely set the wrong way. This behavior comes from the keyboard's input prediction feature, not from the messaging app itself. A quick check in the keyboard settings usually clears it up.
Turn On or Off the Keyboard Suggestion Strip
If a row of word suggestions keeps popping up above the keyboard while you type, that is the suggestion strip built into Gboard. Oppo phones ship with this bar switched on by default, and tapping a suggested word drops it straight into your text. If the constant suggestions distract you or make typing feel cluttered, you can turn the strip off in the keyboard settings.
