Add App Shortcut to the Home Screen
On Oppo phones running the App Drawer layout, newly installed apps stay tucked away in the drawer instead of landing on the home screen. If you keep swiping up just to launch one app, you are missing a shortcut that needs to be placed there manually.
Manage Google Activity Controls
If you have not touched the Activity controls on your Oppo phone, Google keeps logging Web & App Activity, location history, YouTube history and more under the Google Account you are signed into. This tracking runs in the background and is not obvious from the main Settings screen. Left untouched, it builds a detailed profile of what you search, watch and where you go.
Activate a Downloaded Keyboard
After installing a new keyboard app on your Oppo phone, the system keeps typing with the default keyboard instead. ColorOS keeps every input method, including downloaded keyboards and voice typing, switched off until you turn it on yourself in one central menu. Without that extra step, the new keyboard app sits on your home screen but never appears when you tap a text field.
Turn Data Roaming On or Off
If your Oppo phone loses mobile data the moment you leave your home network, data roaming is probably switched off. Abroad, mobile data and sometimes calls only keep working once roaming is enabled for the active SIM. Outside the EU in particular, this setting can trigger noticeable extra charges from your carrier.
Change Media Volume
If videos, games or music play louder or quieter than expected on your Oppo phone, the media volume slider is usually the cause, not the ringtone or notification volume. This level controls audio for apps and their content separately from calls and alerts. On some ColorOS versions the volume buttons only adjust it while media is actively playing.
Turn On/Off Automatic Data Sync
If contacts, calendar entries or photos on your Oppo phone stop updating in the background, the account sync toggle has likely been switched off. This setting controls whether signed-in accounts like Google keep pushing changes to your device without you opening each app manually.
Turn Overnight Auto-update On or Off
If your Oppo phone applies system updates without asking, overnight auto-update is likely active. It only installs updates while you are not using the device, between 2 and 5 AM, and only downloads them over WLAN. Turning it off keeps every update on hold until you approve it manually.
Turn VoLTE Calls On or Off
If your Oppo phone keeps falling back to a 2G or 3G connection for calls, call setup takes longer and voice quality suffers. This happens because VoLTE is switched off or was reset after a system update, so the phone dials over the older mobile network instead of your 4G data connection. Carrier support and a valid data plan both play a role here.
Reset Camera Settings to Default
If your Oppo camera app looks off after tweaking resolution, grid lines, watermark or video quality, tracking down every changed option one by one gets tedious fast. Filters, saved modes and exposure tweaks can pile up until the app behaves unpredictably. ColorOS includes a single function that reverts every camera option at once instead of making you undo each change manually.
Change Always-On Display Clock Style
If your Oppo phone only shows the time and battery percentage on the Always-On Display, you are missing part of what the feature can actually do. ColorOS also lets you show the date and incoming notifications, but the toggle sits a few taps deep in the display settings and gets overlooked easily.
Turn Call Waiting On or Off
If you miss a second incoming call while already on a call on your Oppo phone, the call waiting feature might be turned off. Some carriers switch it on by default, but the toggle sits in the phone's network settings and you can check or change it yourself.
Turn Super Power Saving Mode On or Off
When your Oppo phone is stuck at a low charge and you need it to last through the rest of the day, Super power saving mode cuts almost everything non-essential. It switches the display to dark mode, limits which apps can run in the background, and pauses syncing to squeeze out extra runtime. That trade-off means notifications, widgets, and most third-party apps stop behaving normally until you switch the mode off again.
Turn Contact Sharing via Bluetooth On or Off
If your contacts don't show up on another device after a Bluetooth pairing, contact sharing is probably switched off for that specific connection. Coloros stores this permission per paired device, so turning it on for one phone or car system does not apply to the next device you connect.
Allow or Block App Autostart
If your Oppo phone feels slow right after a restart, too many apps are probably launching in the background automatically. Each app that keeps an autostart permission keeps running silently, draining battery and RAM before you even open it. ColorOS has a dedicated manager for this, but it is easy to miss and even easier to leave misconfigured.
Show or Hide World Clock Widget on Home Screen
Added several cities to the World Clock app but can't get them onto your home screen? On Oppo phones the World Clock only appears as a home screen widget once a specific system toggle is switched on, otherwise the app stays hidden from the widget drawer. If the widget refuses to show up, or you want to remove it without deleting your saved cities, one setting in Date & time decides that.
Remove a Widget from the Home Screen
A widget sitting on your home screen refuses to move or just clutters the layout, and tapping it only opens the linked app instead of offering a way out. On some Oppo models the widget also feels stuck in place, as if it were locked to that spot.
Show or Hide Birthdays in Calendar
Birthdays from your contacts do not always show up in the calendar app on an Oppo phone, even though the dates are stored correctly in your Google account. Usually the birthday calendar layer is just switched off or the sync has not caught up yet. This affects anyone who wants a quick overview of upcoming birthdays without opening the contacts app separately.
Turn On/Off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning for Location Accuracy
If your Oppo phone shows your location several streets away, or apps take forever to pin you down in a city, the culprit is often disabled Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning. Coloros uses nearby networks and Bluetooth signals to fine-tune GPS, even when both radios are switched off. Without this scanning, location accuracy drops noticeably indoors and between tall buildings.
Change What the Volume Buttons Control
On most Oppo phones the volume rocker only adjusts media volume, so lowering a call ringtone or notification sound needs a separate step. This becomes confusing when Focus mode or Do Not Disturb still lets a loud ringtone through, because the buttons were never linked to ringer volume. Switching the button function to ringtone volume closes that gap.
Set Default Keyboard
Installed a new keyboard app but Oppo keeps opening Gboard whenever you tap a text field? Activating a keyboard alone does not make it the one your phone actually uses. Until you set it as default, typing still falls back to whichever keyboard was active before.
Set an Alternate Calendar for Dates
Dates in the Calendar app only show up in the Gregorian format, even though you need a Chinese, Hebrew, or Hijri reference for religious or cultural events. This happens because the alternate calendar option is turned off by default and depends on Google Calendar being installed. Without it, Coloros only displays the classic calendar view.
Remove an Account
If an old account still shows up under Users & accounts on your Oppo phone even after signing out, it was only logged out, not removed. Removing the account deletes its local data and sync settings from the device, but the account and any data stored in its cloud stay untouched.
Optimize Battery Consumption
If your Oppo phone drains fast even when you barely touch it, background apps are usually pulling power without you noticing. Oppo phones include a function that scans your usage and shows exactly how much charge you could save, app by app. Knowing which processes it restricts helps you decide if the automatic suggestion fits how you actually use your phone.
Limit Connected Devices on Personal Hotspot
By default, an Oppo hotspot accepts up to ten devices at once, which slows down shared data or blocks a new phone or laptop from joining once that cap is reached. If your household needs fewer simultaneous connections for better speed, or more room for extra devices, the ten-device default is not fixed. You can raise or lower it directly in the hotspot settings.
