Without a saved location, the phone falls back to your regular screen lock everywhere, including places you visit every day. Trusted Places keeps the device unlocked within roughly 50 meters of a spot you pick, as long as location services stay on.

Add Trusted Devices for Smart Lock
If your Oppo phone still asks for a PIN even though your smartwatch or Bluetooth headset is connected, Smart Lock likely does not have that device listed as trusted yet. Trusted devices keep the phone unlocked automatically as long as the Bluetooth connection to a paired accessory like a fitness tracker, car handsfree, or headphones stays active. Pairing alone is not enough - the accessory has to be added to the trusted list before automatic unlock kicks in.
Change Privacy Password
Switching from a PIN to a pattern for your Oppo privacy password, or just unsure which type you originally picked? The privacy password guards hidden files and cloned apps separately from your screen lock, so updating it means confirming the current one before you can set a new type.
Turn Find My Device On or Off
If your Oppo phone goes missing, a deactivated Find My Device feature means you lose any chance to track, lock, or wipe it remotely. Many users only discover the toggle is off after the device is already gone, since it sits inside the Security menu rather than a separate app. Checking its status now takes less than a minute and closes that gap before it becomes a problem.

If TalkBack reads out every character of your password while you type, anyone standing nearby can hear it. This happens because the Speak passwords option inside TalkBack's accessibility settings is switched on by default on Oppo phones. You can turn this audio feedback off or back on in a few taps.
Auto Brighten Screen for Face Unlock
If Face Unlock keeps failing in a dark room or at night, the front camera likely does not get enough light to map your face. Coloros has an 'Auto brighten screen for face recognition' option meant to fix exactly this, but it is easy to miss and easy to leave switched off by accident.
Turn On-body Detection On or Off
Your Oppo phone stays unlocked the whole time you are carrying it, even after you slide it into a pocket or bag. That is On-body detection at work, a Smart Lock feature that reads motion sensors instead of checking who is actually holding the device. If someone else picks up your phone while it is still moving, they get straight in without a PIN or fingerprint.
Change Lock Screen Wallpaper
If your lock screen keeps showing the same picture as your home screen, ColorOS is applying wallpaper changes to both screens by default. This happens with your own photos, standard wallpapers, and live wallpapers alike. You need to pick the target screen manually to keep the two separate.
Rename a Fingerprint
On Oppo phones, every fingerprint you enroll gets a generic label like Finger 1 or Finger 2 by default. Once you have three or four fingers registered, telling them apart in the security settings becomes guesswork. Giving each entry a clear name fixes that confusion for good.
Turn On/Off Emergency SOS
If pressing the power button five times keeps launching Emergency SOS by accident, or the shortcut refuses to trigger when you actually need it, the Emergency call quick access toggle is probably set the wrong way. The feature works straight from the lock screen and dials your saved emergency contacts, so an unwanted trigger during everyday use can be just as annoying as a missing one in a real emergency.
Turn Google Play Protect On or Off
If Google Play Protect keeps blocking an app you trust or throws a warning notification every time you install something, the built-in scanner is doing its job a bit too aggressively. On Oppo phones this security check runs in the background by default and can interfere with sideloaded apps or apps from outside the Play Store. Turning the scan off, or back on, changes how much control Android has over what runs on your device.
