Turn Screenshot Sound On or Off
Every screenshot on your Oppo phone plays a camera-shutter sound, even in meetings or quiet rooms. That noise comes from a dedicated toggle in the sound settings, not from the screenshot gesture itself, so silent mode alone often does not stop it.
Turn HDR On or Off in the Camera App
Photos taken indoors or against bright windows often come out either too dark in the shadows or completely blown out in the sky. That happens because the HDR mode in the Camera app is set the wrong way for the scene you are shooting. Switching it on or off manually gives you more control over exposure than letting the camera decide on its own.
Change Lock Screen Wallpaper
If your lock screen keeps showing the same picture as your home screen, ColorOS is applying wallpaper changes to both screens by default. This happens with your own photos, standard wallpapers, and live wallpapers alike. You need to pick the target screen manually to keep the two separate.
Add App Exceptions to Do Not Disturb
If Do Not Disturb mode silences a messaging or work app you actually need to hear from, that is expected behavior on Oppo phones, not a bug. Coloros mutes every app by default once Do Not Disturb turns on, and only apps added to the allowed list keep making sound and showing alerts. Without that exception, calls, chats and reminders from that app stay silent until you turn the mode off.
Add Apps and Games to Game Space
If a game or app does not launch inside Game Space on your Oppo phone, it usually has not been added to the managed list yet. Without that step, the app starts as a normal application and misses out on performance tweaks, do-not-disturb, and other Game Space functions.
Change Font Size
If text on your Oppo phone looks too small to read comfortably or too cramped when enlarged, ColorOS lets you adjust the font size on its own. Only the letters scale up or down, while icons, buttons and layout keep their original size, which can make some screens look unbalanced at the extreme settings.
Allow Calls During Do Not Disturb
If Do Not Disturb is active on your Oppo phone, calls get silenced unless you add an exception. You can choose to let calls through from everyone, only from saved contacts, or from a handful of selected people. Missing this setting means important calls go straight to silence with no ring at all.
Custom Notification Sounds per App
If every app on your Oppo phone plays the same generic notification tone, it gets hard to tell a chat message apart from a calendar reminder just by sound. Coloros lets you assign a separate ringtone to each app, but the option sits inside app management instead of the general sound settings. Many users only ever find the global tone switch and assume individual app sounds are not possible.
Set Date Manually
If the date on your Oppo phone is wrong and there is no direct way to edit it, the automatic time sync is the reason. ColorOS locks date and time together, so both need attention once automatic sync gets switched off. Skipping the time step often leaves the clock inaccurate even after you set the correct date.
Turn On/Off Magnification (Accessibility)
If text and icons on your Oppo phone are too small to read comfortably, the built-in magnification tool works like a digital magnifying glass. A triple tap on the screen opens a zoom window that you control with a two-finger pinch. The feature covers the entire display except the keyboard and navigation bar, and many users cannot find where to switch it on or off.
Unlock Private Safe with Fingerprint
Typing in your privacy password every time you want to check files in Private Safe gets tedious fast. Oppo phones let you swap that PIN, pattern or password entry for a fingerprint tap, but the toggle sits buried inside biometric settings and stays off by default. Without switching it on, the fingerprint sensor you already use to unlock your phone has no effect on the vault.
Uninstall an App via Settings
Long-pressing an app icon on your Oppo home screen and tapping Uninstall does not always work, especially if the shortcut sits inside a folder or has been removed from the home screen entirely. In that case the quick gesture method fails and you need a menu that lists every installed app regardless of where its icon lives. The App management section in Settings covers exactly that gap.
Remove an App Shortcut from the Home Screen
If a shortcut icon refuses to disappear when you try to clean up your Oppo home screen, the App Drawer setting is usually the reason. With App Drawer enabled, removing a shortcut only deletes the icon, not the app. Without it, home screen icons and installed apps are the same thing, so removing one uninstalls the other.
Set Default Keyboard Language
If you type in two or three languages on the same Gboard keyboard, one of them always opens first no matter which app you are in. On Oppo phones this order comes from a language list that most people never touch, so the wrong language keeps showing up before you even start typing. Switching manually every time gets old fast once you notice the list itself controls what appears first.
Show or Hide the Emoji Switch Key on Gboard
On Oppo phones with Gboard, an emoji icon sits next to the space bar by default, letting you jump straight into emojis while typing. If you rarely use it, or you actually need that spot for the language switch button instead, the emoji key gets in the way. Both buttons cannot be shown at the same time, so one always replaces the other.
Delete Photos or Videos
Storage fills up fast when old photos and videos pile up in the Oppo Gallery app, and deleting them one by one feels endless. Switching to edit mode lets you select several files at once, but the items you remove do not disappear right away. They sit in the Trash for a while first, which still counts against your free storage until they are cleared out.
Send a Photo via Bluetooth
A photo from the camera or Gallery does not reach a paired device automatically, and the Bluetooth send option is easy to miss inside the sharing menu. Bluetooth transfer only works once a device is paired and switched on, but the actual command sits in the Send sheet, not in the Bluetooth settings screen. The same process applies to PDFs, videos, contacts and other file types, not just photos.
Turn On or Off Video Subtitles
Videos with subtitle tracks often play without any captions showing up on an Oppo phone, because the subtitle option is switched off by default. If you rely on captions for language learning, noisy environments, or hearing support, this can make watching content frustrating until the right accessibility setting is found.
Check for Software Updates Manually
If your Oppo phone hasn't picked up a new ColorOS version yet, waiting for the automatic background check can take days. The system only looks for firmware at set intervals, so a pending patch or security fix might sit unnoticed for a while. Triggering the check yourself confirms right away whether a new update is actually available.
Turn On/Off Call Barring
If certain calls still get through even though you set up barring, or international calls stay blocked after you land back home, the wrong barring option is probably still active on your Oppo. Call barring works per call type, so outgoing calls, outgoing international calls, roaming calls and incoming calls each have their own separate switch. On dual-SIM devices this gets confusing fast, since barring is configured per SIM card.
Turn High Performance Mode On or Off
If your Oppo phone drains battery fast or feels hot during gaming, High Performance Mode might already be active in the background. This setting disables every energy-saving feature to push maximum speed, which trades battery life and temperature for smoother performance.
Turn Screen Wake for Notifications On or Off
If your Oppo's display stays black when a new message or alert arrives, you have to unlock the phone just to see what happened. ColorOS controls this behavior through a dedicated notification setting that most people never notice. Once you find it, you can decide whether the screen should light up automatically or stay off to save battery.
Turn Glide Typing On or Off
Typing every letter by hand feels unnecessary when Gboard can turn a single finger swipe across the keyboard into a full word. On some Oppo phones, Glide typing stays switched off by default, so swipe gestures do nothing and the keyboard falls back to individual key taps. Whether you want faster input or need to stop an accidental swipe trigger, the setting sits hidden inside the keyboard menu.
Add Trusted Devices for Smart Lock
If your Oppo phone still asks for a PIN even though your smartwatch or Bluetooth headset is connected, Smart Lock likely does not have that device listed as trusted yet. Trusted devices keep the phone unlocked automatically as long as the Bluetooth connection to a paired accessory like a fitness tracker, car handsfree, or headphones stays active. Pairing alone is not enough - the accessory has to be added to the trusted list before automatic unlock kicks in.
