Pair a Bluetooth Device
Turning on Bluetooth on your Oppo phone does not automatically connect it to headphones, speakers, or another phone. Both devices still need to confirm the connection before any file transfer or audio streaming works. If your Oppo phone cannot find the other device or the pairing request never appears, the two devices are simply not linked yet.
Block or Unblock a Contact
If a contact keeps calling or texting you and you want it to stop, blocking them cuts off calls and messages without deleting the contact. This screen reader changes how taps, swipes, and double-taps work across the whole system. Turning it on or off correctly keeps accidental activation from locking you out of normal navigation.
Turn Power Saving Mode On or Off
If your Oppo phone suddenly dims the screen, cuts the screen timeout to 15 seconds, and stops apps from syncing in the background, Power saving mode is active. This mode can switch on by itself at low battery or stay on after you enabled it manually, and it often delays notifications and app updates. Switching it off brings back normal brightness and sync behavior right away.
Set Default Account for New Contacts
Every time you add a new contact on your Oppo phone, ColorOS asks you to pick a storage account, and that gets annoying fast if you always choose the same one. Switching between your Google account and internal phone storage manually wastes time and can leave contacts scattered across different places. Setting a fixed default account for new contacts removes that extra tap for good.
Turn USB Tethering On or Off
If your laptop or tablet won't get online after you plug in your Oppo phone via USB cable, the internet connection usually is not shared yet. USB tethering has to be switched on manually before the connected device can use your mobile data.
Change Home Screen Grid Size
If your Oppo home screen feels cramped with too many icons squeezed into each row, or the tiles look oversized with too few apps per screen, the grid layout is set to a fixed size. Coloros offers several grid options, usually starting with 4x6 and 5x6, and some models add extra layouts. Picking the wrong size can cut off app names or leave large empty gaps between icons.
Turn Contact Sharing via Bluetooth On or Off
If your contacts don't show up on another device after a Bluetooth pairing, contact sharing is probably switched off for that specific connection. Coloros stores this permission per paired device, so turning it on for one phone or car system does not apply to the next device you connect.
Remove a Widget from the Home Screen
A widget sitting on your home screen refuses to move or just clutters the layout, and tapping it only opens the linked app instead of offering a way out. On some Oppo models the widget also feels stuck in place, as if it were locked to that spot.
Reset Network Settings on Oppo
If your Oppo phone keeps dropping Wi-Fi, refuses to pair Bluetooth devices, or mobile data won't connect properly, a corrupted network profile is often the cause. Resetting the network settings clears these saved configurations and lets Android rebuild them from scratch. It won't touch your photos, apps, or personal data.
Turn On/Off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning for Location Accuracy

Change What the Volume Buttons Control
On most Oppo phones the volume rocker only adjusts media volume, so lowering a call ringtone or notification sound needs a separate step. This becomes confusing when Focus mode or Do Not Disturb still lets a loud ringtone through, because the buttons were never linked to ringer volume. Switching the button function to ringtone volume closes that gap.
Set Default Keyboard
Installed a new keyboard app but Oppo keeps opening Gboard whenever you tap a text field? Activating a keyboard alone does not make it the one your phone actually uses. Until you set it as default, typing still falls back to whichever keyboard was active before.
Limit Connected Devices on Personal Hotspot
By default, an Oppo hotspot accepts up to ten devices at once, which slows down shared data or blocks a new phone or laptop from joining once that cap is reached. If your household needs fewer simultaneous connections for better speed, or more room for extra devices, the ten-device default is not fixed. You can raise or lower it directly in the hotspot settings.
Show or Hide the Fingerprint Icon on the Lock Screen
On Oppo phones with an in-display fingerprint sensor, a small icon lights up at the sensor spot even while the screen is off. Some people find this glowing marker distracting at night or suspect it drains battery, and want to turn it off without losing fingerprint unlock. View Messages Stored on SIM Card
Old text messages that arrived before you switched phones often sit only on the SIM card, not in the main inbox of the messaging app. On Coloros this SIM storage is hidden by default, so those messages look like they vanished. A separate settings menu on Oppo phones brings them back into view.
Show or Hide Notification Icons in Status Bar
On Oppo phones, every app pushes its own icon into the status bar, which quickly turns the top of your screen into a cluttered icon row. If you only want to see how many unread notifications you have, or nothing at all, the icon display is controlled through a separate notification setting. Set Default App Storage to SD Card
Running out of internal storage on your Oppo phone while the SD card sits mostly empty? You cannot install apps directly onto the memory card, but many apps let you redirect new data to it once you set the card as the default storage target. Whether this actually frees up space depends on whether the app itself supports external storage.
Import Contacts from a vCard File
Switching to an Oppo phone often means your old contacts sit in a vCard file or on another device, and there is no simple sync button for that. Coloros only lets you import a full .vcf file or pull contacts directly from another phone via Bluetooth, without any option to pick single entries from the list. If you only need a handful of numbers, you end up with everything from the source file instead.
Export Contacts to a vCard File
On Oppo phones running ColorOS, the built-in export tool only saves contacts to local phone storage, not directly to a cloud service or another device. The result is a single .vcf file containing every contact detail, and you get to pick which account's contacts go into it. If you expected a direct transfer option, this local-only behavior can be confusing.
Turn Split Screen On or Off
If a three-finger swipe up does nothing on your Oppo phone, split screen mode might be switched off in the background. ColorOS ships with the feature active out of the box, but the gesture only works while split screen itself stays enabled in the settings.
Show or Hide Password Characters While Typing
On Oppo phones, the last character you type into a password field briefly shows up on screen instead of staying hidden behind dots.
