Add Emergency Contacts for Emergency SOS
If Emergency SOS or emergency SMS on your Oppo phone only reaches the default 112 number, no personal emergency contact is stored yet. Without at least one saved contact, alerts and location messages during an SOS trigger won't go out to anyone you know.
Turn Bluetooth Tethering On or Off
If a paired device cannot reach the internet through your Oppo phone, Bluetooth tethering might be switched off or the device connection was never approved. This function shares your mobile data over Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi hotspot or USB, which helps laptops without hotspot support and saves battery compared to Wi-Fi sharing. Each paired device needs the option allowed on its own before data actually flows.
Turn Assisted Dialing (Roaming Assistant) On or Off
Calling contacts while traveling can fail on an Oppo phone because Assisted Dialing quietly inserts a country code you never asked for. This roaming assistant reacts whenever the network detects you outside your home country, even for numbers that would normally dial fine without a prefix. If that auto-added code breaks the call or reaches the wrong number, the fix is to switch the feature off and dial manually.
Turn Notification Badges On or Off Per App
If notification badges do not show up on some app icons on your Oppo home screen, the per-app Badge toggle is likely switched off. ColorOS only displays a small dot instead of a number, and each app has its own switch tucked inside the notification settings. Missing dots often get mistaken for a wider notification bug when it is really just this one setting.
Change Google Backup Account
If your phone backs up to the wrong Google account, storage on that account can fill up fast or you may not find your backup when setting up a new device. This mix-up usually happens after switching Google accounts on the phone without updating the backup destination in Storage and Backup. The good news is the backup account is not locked in and can be swapped at any time.
Resize a Widget on the Home Screen
If a widget on your Oppo home screen only shows a fixed size and won't stretch right after you add it, that's expected. Coloros only unlocks resize handles once the widget is already sitting on the screen, not while you're still picking it from the widget drawer. That's a different flow than on stock Android, where some launchers let you size a widget before you even drop it.
App Download Preference (Wi-Fi or Mobile Data)
New apps from the Google Play Store only download over Wi-Fi on your Oppo phone by default, and a large install can sit there waiting instead of finishing over mobile data. This is controlled by a setting inside the Play Store itself, not by Coloros. You can allow downloads over mobile data at any time, or set the Play Store to ask you every single time before it uses cellular data.
Disable Automatic Power Saving Shutoff After Charging
If Power saving mode on your Oppo phone switches off by itself once the battery reaches roughly 60 percent, ColorOS is applying its built-in reset rule. That can be annoying if you want reduced performance and background limits to stay in place no matter how much charge is left.
Edit a Contact
When a phone number changes or a name is misspelled, the stored contact still shows the old details until you update it manually. This mix-up often causes calls or messages to go to the wrong entry, especially if the contact was synced from an old backup. Coloros lets you correct any field directly from the contact card without deleting and re-adding the entry.
Block Calls and Notifications in Game Space
When you are deep into a match, an incoming call notification can pull you straight out of the game or slow down your device. On Oppo phones this happens because Game Space treats calls and notifications the same way it treats other interruptions, unless you tell it otherwise. Only apps added to the Game Space launcher are affected by this behavior.
Add Email Account
If new mail from Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or an Exchange server never shows up in your inbox app, the account itself is often missing from the phone, not just from the mail app. Oppo phones need every provider registered once in the account manager before Coloros can sync mail, contacts and calendar entries for it. Without that step, the inbox stays empty or keeps asking you to log in again.
Rename a Contact Group
If a contact group still shows an old team name or a typo, it can confuse you every time you scroll through your address book on your Oppo phone. The label does not update on its own and stays until you change it manually. Coloros lets you fix this directly inside the Contacts app.
Delete a Contact Group
Deleting a contact group on an Oppo phone with Coloros only removes the group label, not the people inside it, and that catches many users off guard. The option sits a few taps deep inside the group menu, so it is easy to tap the wrong entry or miss it entirely. Knowing exactly which group you selected before confirming matters, since the action applies right away.
Restore a Local Backup
If your Oppo phone lost apps, photos or settings after a reset, a failed update, or a storage swap, a local backup can bring that data back without starting from scratch. Local restore lets you pick specific data types instead of overwriting everything on the device. This matters when you only need contacts or messages back and want newer files left untouched.
Tap-to-Capture: Take Photos with a Single Screen Tap
Tapping the screen to frame a shot on your Oppo camera sometimes fires the shutter instead of just setting focus. That happens because Touch to take photo is switched on, so the camera snaps the picture the instant focus locks on the spot you tapped. If you only wanted to adjust focus, this can lead to blurry or mistimed shots.
Turn Color Correction On or Off
If reds and greens look almost identical on your Oppo display, or if certain interface elements blend together, a color vision difference such as Deuteranomaly, Protanomaly or Tritanomaly might be affecting how you read the screen. ColorOS includes a built-in correction tool that shifts on-screen colors to make these differences less noticeable, but it only works once the right mode is selected. Leaving it off or set to the wrong mode means icons, charts and notifications can stay hard to distinguish.
Remove a Contact from a Group
If a contact group on your Oppo phone still lists someone who left a team or changed roles, you need to remove that entry without deleting the whole contact. Many people only know the single-contact method and never notice the faster group edit mode built into the Contacts app. Removing several members that way, one at a time, wastes time when you need to clean up a whole group.
Turn Auto Brightness On or Off
If your screen keeps getting too dark in bright rooms or too bright at night, the light sensor behind Auto brightness might be misreading your surroundings. Auto brightness is supposed to save battery and reduce eye strain by adjusting the screen on its own, but a dirty sensor, a case covering it, or a stuck setting can throw that off. Once you know where the switch lives, fixing it takes seconds.
Switch Between 12- and 24-Hour Time Format
If your Oppo phone shows the time in 24-hour format but you expect a 12-hour clock with AM and PM, that is the default ColorOS behavior, not a bug. Some apps and widgets even keep displaying 24-hour time after you change the system clock, which confuses a lot of users. The fix sits in the date and time settings, separate from the region or language options.
Change Keyboard Height
If typing on your Oppo feels cramped or the keyboard eats up too much of the screen, the default Gboard height is usually the cause. Coloros keeps this sizing option tucked inside the keyboard app itself rather than the main display settings, so most people never find it. Seven presets are available, from Very Low up to Very High.
Turn Banner Notifications On or Off Per App
If banner notifications keep popping up for apps you would rather have silent, or a chat app stopped showing previews at the top of the screen at all, the setting sits inside the individual app notification controls, not in a general notification menu. On Oppo phones running Coloros, banners can be switched off or back on separately for every single app, and in some apps even per notification category.
Add Apps and Games to Game Space
If a game or app does not launch inside Game Space on your Oppo phone, it usually has not been added to the managed list yet. Without that step, the app starts as a normal application and misses out on performance tweaks, do-not-disturb, and other Game Space functions.
Turn On/Off Google Location History
If Google Location History stays enabled on your Oppo phone, almost every street, building and restaurant you pass gets logged with a timestamp. That data sits in your Google account, not only on the device, and keeps growing even while the screen is off. Many Oppo users only spot the tracking when they open their Google Maps timeline and see a full map of their week.
Turn Airplane Mode On or Off
If your Oppo phone will not connect to a network, WLAN, or Bluetooth device, Airplane mode might already be running in the background. Turning it on cuts mobile signal, WLAN, Bluetooth and NFC at once, which is useful on a plane but confusing when it happens by accident. Switching it off again does not restore every connection automatically, since only the settings you had active before get reloaded.
