Hide Apps on the Home Screen

A locked app on your Realme phone still shows its icon on the home screen, so anyone picking up the device can see which apps you protect. App lock alone does not remove the icon from view or from the app drawer. The 'Hide apps' option only takes effect once app lock is already active for that app.

Change Display Size

If icons and text on your Realme phone look too small to tap comfortably, or too large and cramped, the display size is likely still set to its default value. Realme UI scales interface elements separately from the system font, and switching sizes can shift app icons or widgets out of their usual spot on the home screen.

Change Time Zone Manually

If your realme phone shows the wrong local time after traveling or switching networks, the time zone is likely still locked to automatic detection. Realme UI normally pulls this value from the mobile network, which can lag or pick the wrong region when you cross borders, use a local SIM, or lose network coverage. Locking in the correct time zone yourself keeps calendar entries, alarms, and call logs accurate.

Turn On/Off Personal Hotspot

If your laptop or tablet won't pick up your Realme's internet connection, the personal hotspot toggle is often switched off or buried in a settings menu you don't check often. Some phones also auto-disable the hotspot after a period of inactivity to save battery, which can look like a connection failure on the other device. Knowing exactly where this switch lives and what limits it saves a lot of guesswork.

Manually Check for a Security Update

If your Realme phone skips a security update or you dismissed the install notification without noticing, the patch stays uninstalled in the background. Automatic checks depend on your connection and battery settings, so a pending update can sit unnoticed for weeks. Running a manual check confirms whether a newer security patch is actually available.

Change Notification Sound

When every incoming SMS or WhatsApp message triggers the same generic tone, it gets hard to tell alerts apart without looking at the screen. Realme UI ships with one default notification sound applied system-wide, so apps that do not offer their own sound settings stay locked to it. Switching to a different pre-installed tone only takes a few taps once you know where the option lives.

Add and Manage Words in the Personal Dictionary

If the Realme keyboard keeps swapping out a name, abbreviation, or technical term for something else while you type, autocorrect is overriding a word it does not recognize. Adding that word to the personal dictionary stops the correction and lets you set a shortcut that expands into a full phrase.

Remove a Widget from the Home Screen

A widget sitting on your home screen keeps pulling data in the background even when you never open it, and that shows up as extra battery drain on your Realme phone. Sometimes the feature or service it displays also just is not useful anymore and only takes up space next to your apps. Removing it does not touch the app itself, only the shortcut tile on the screen.

Set Up Personal Hotspot with a Custom Name and Password

If your Realme hotspot still uses the default name and password, anyone nearby can spot it and try to connect. A weak or unchanged password also means unknown devices might slow down your connection or use up your mobile data without you noticing.

Set Screen Color Temperature

If the display feels too cold and bluish or too warm and yellowish at certain times of day, the screen color temperature setting is usually to blame. On Realme phones this tone sits on a stepless slider between cold and warm, and a shift in either direction can make text harder to read or colors look off in photos and videos.

Show or Hide Emoji Suggestions in Gboard

When Gboard keeps adding emoji next to your typed words in the suggestion bar, a careless tap can insert an emoji instead of finishing your sentence. This behavior comes from the 'Show emoji suggestions' option in Text correction and applies across every app you type in. If you prefer plain word predictions only, you can turn the feature off just as easily as you turned it on.

Set Default SIM Card for Mobile Data

If your realme phone keeps using the wrong SIM for mobile data, apps may load slowly or not connect at all, especially when only one of your two SIM cards has an active data plan. This usually happens because the phone still has the other SIM set as the default for internet, and Realme UI does not switch this automatically when you swap SIM cards or plans.

Dark Mode: Display and Home Screen Settings

Dark Mode switches the interface on your Realme phone to a black or deep-gray color scheme across the display, home screen and supported apps. It reduces glare in low light, can lower power draw on AMOLED panels and changes how icons, wallpapers and widgets look. This overview explains what the feature actually controls and where it can behave differently from app to app.

Turn Mobile Data On or Off

If apps stop loading anything the moment you leave Wi-Fi, mobile data is likely switched off on your Realme phone. This single toggle controls whether every app can reach the cellular network at all, so one wrong tap kills messaging, browsing, and background sync in one go. The setting lives both in the SIM card menu and in the quick panel, and the two can fall out of sync after a restart or update.

Turn On/Off Google Location Accuracy

If GPS positioning on your Realme phone drifts by hundreds of meters or apps take forever to find your location, Google's location accuracy feature is usually involved. It blends radio networks, Wi-Fi signals and sensor data to sharpen your position, but it also sends anonymous location data to Google in the process. Turning it off trades some positioning precision for more privacy.

Turn Auto-correction On or Off

When Gboard autocorrects words that were already correct, the Text correction feature is usually tuned too aggressively for how you actually type. Names, slang, abbreviations and technical terms get swapped for the wrong suggestion more often than they get fixed. Switching the setting off gives you back full control over what lands on the screen.

Add Emergency Information

If you collapse or end up in an accident, first responders have no way of knowing your blood type, allergies, or existing medical conditions. On a Realme phone this information can sit right on the lock screen, ready to view the moment someone taps the emergency call option.

Turn On/Off App Notification Badges

If an app icon on your Realme home screen keeps showing a small dot even after you have read every message, or an app you care about never shows one at all, the badge setting for that specific app controls this. Some apps let you pick between a dot or a number, others only support a simple on or off switch.

Clear App Cache

When an app shows outdated images, gets stuck loading old content, or keeps crashing without a clear reason, leftover cache files are often the cause. That temporary data also piles up quietly and eats into your free storage over time. Clearing it forces the app to rebuild everything fresh the next time you open it.

Remove Keyboard Language

If your Gboard keyboard on Realme keeps switching to a language you no longer use, or the language picker is cluttered with layouts you added by mistake, it slows down typing. This usually happens when a keyboard language was added once for a trip or a chat and never removed afterward. Cleaning up the language list keeps the keyboard switcher fast and relevant.

Install Apps from the Google Play Store

If your Realme phone only lets you add apps through APK files or unknown sources, you are missing the direct route through the Google Play Store. That store only shows an active Install button once a Google account is signed in on the device. Without a signed-in account, search results appear normally, but the app card asks you to sign in instead of downloading.

Add a Keyboard Language in Gboard

Typing in a second language on your Realme phone often fails because only the system language keyboard is active. If Gboard offers just one input language, switching between scripts or accents while typing becomes slow and error-prone. Adding another keyboard language keeps autocorrect, suggestions, and layout matched to what you actually type.

Turn On/Off Data Roaming

If your Realme phone shows no mobile data abroad, data roaming is usually switched off by default to prevent unexpected charges. Without it enabled, messengers, maps and browsers cannot connect over the mobile network at all, even though your SIM still shows signal. Some providers also require separate APN settings before roaming works properly.

Add Emergency Contacts for Emergency SOS

If Emergency SOS on your Realme phone doesn't notify anyone when you trigger it, no emergency contacts have been saved yet. Without a stored contact, the automatic SOS message with your location and a short audio clip is never sent out. Realme UI only lists this option once Emergency SOS itself is switched on.
