Add an Account to Calendar
If your appointments, birthdays or tasks from Google or Exchange are missing in the Calendar app, the account simply has not been linked yet. Samsung Calendar only shows data that is stored on your phone or connected through a synced account, so an unlinked account leaves whole calendars empty.
Change Default Apps
If tapping a link always opens the wrong browser, or a newly installed messaging app never launches automatically, a leftover default app assignment is still active. Samsung keeps separate default apps for actions like opening links, sending texts or making calls, and a fresh install does not take over automatically. Until you reassign it, the old app keeps handling those actions.
Show or Hide the App Drawer Button on the Home Screen
On Samsung phones the app list normally opens with a swipe up on the home screen, and many users miss the dedicated button from older models. Reset Camera Settings
If your Samsung camera keeps producing odd results after tweaking resolution, filters, grid lines or shooting modes, restoring the default configuration usually clears the mess fastest. Custom settings like exposure values, watermark options or scene assist can silently stack up and cause blurry, oversaturated or oddly cropped shots. Schedule Dark Mode
If Dark Mode stays on well past sunrise or never switches off before you go to bed, the automatic schedule on your Samsung phone probably is not set up yet. Samsung lets you tie Dark Mode to sunset and sunrise or to a fixed time you choose, but this option sits switched off by default, so most people end up toggling the display mode by hand every day.
Turn USB Tethering On or Off
If your laptop or PC does not pick up an internet connection after you plug in your Samsung phone, USB tethering is probably still switched off. This feature routes your mobile data through the USB cable instead of Wi-Fi, which helps when public Wi-Fi is blocked, slow, or unavailable. Set App Timers

Group Albums into Folders
When your Gallery fills up with dozens of separate albums, finding a specific event takes longer every time you open the app. Samsung lets you nest related albums inside one main album, so yearly or category folders stay bundled instead of cluttering the overview. This grouping option is easy to miss because it works through drag-and-drop instead of a settings menu.
Set Date and Time Automatically
If your Samsung phone shows the wrong time after a trip or a SIM swap, the automatic clock sync has likely been switched off. Apps that rely on accurate timestamps, like calendars, banking apps, or two-factor codes, can then throw errors or reject logins. This usually traces back to a single toggle in the system settings that pulls time data from your mobile network.
Format SD Card
If your Samsung phone shows a damaged SD card message or won't read a memory card at all, the card usually needs to be formatted before it works with your device storage. Block or Unblock a Contact

Schedule Update Installation
Not every firmware update on your Samsung phone has to go in right away. Installing it in the middle of the day means the restart interrupts whatever you're doing. Samsung lets you pick a time within the next 24 hours so the install and restart happen automatically when you're not using the phone.
Turn Show Palm On or Off for Selfies
If your Samsung camera keeps snapping photos every time you raise an open hand, the 'Show palm' gesture is reacting to more than just selfies. This automatic gesture starts a three-second timer whenever it detects a raised palm, which can trigger unwanted shots in group photos or video calls. Turning it on or off only takes a few taps inside the camera settings.
Turn Game Launcher On or Off
If your installed games sit scattered across the home screen and app drawer instead of being grouped in one place, Game Launcher is probably switched off. Turning it on also starts tracking your play time and unlocks Game Booster tools for blocking notifications while you play. Some people switch it back off when the extra overlay or usage tracking gets in the way during normal app use.
Show or Hide Declined Events in Calendar
If a meeting you declined still disappears from your calendar view instead of showing as declined, the Samsung Calendar app is hiding it on purpose. This happens because the 'Hide declined events' option is turned on by default, which removes any event you rejected from the schedule entirely. Set Default SIM Card for Calls
If your Samsung phone keeps dialing out from SIM 1 even though you meant to call from SIM 2, the default call SIM is likely locked to the wrong card. You can also set the phone to ask every time before placing a call, which helps when you keep one SIM for work and one for personal contacts. This same setting can be changed directly from the status bar shortcut, not just deep inside the settings menu.
Change Home Screen Wallpaper
If your home screen still shows the old background after picking a new photo, Samsung One UI likely applied the change to the lock screen instead. The Wallpaper menu treats the start screen and lock screen as separate targets, so choosing the wrong one is the most common reason nothing visibly changes. This applies to both the built-in wallpaper packs and photos from your own gallery.
Change Alarm Volume
If your alarm sounds too quiet or too loud, the fix is not in your general sound settings. On Samsung phones, alarm volume is controlled separately for each alarm inside the Clock app, not through the main volume slider.
