Filter the Contact List by Account
If your Contacts app mixes Google, Samsung, and SIM entries into one long list, finding the right person during a call or while messaging gets tedious. Samsung lets you narrow the display to a single account or a custom selection instead of showing every contact source at once.
Set Custom App Icons
If your home screen still shows the default Samsung icon set even after installing an icon pack from the Galaxy Store, the pack is downloaded but not switched on yet. Turn Alternative Characters On or Off

Set Default Storage Location for Contacts
Every time you save a new contact on a Samsung phone, a pop-up asks where to store it, and tapping through that prompt gets old fast if you always pick the same account. This happens because no default storage location is set yet in the Contacts app. Once you set one, new entries save automatically without the extra question.
Share a Contact via QR Code

Set Default Dialer App
If you install a third-party calling app but Samsung's own Phone app still opens for calls and messages, the default dialer assignment hasn't changed yet. This also affects which app handles your call log and dial pad, similar to how default apps work for Home, Browser or Messages. A screen lock can sometimes stop an alternative dialer from launching calls correctly.
Resize the Samsung Keyboard

Set Up Mobile Hotspot with a Custom Name and Password
The first time you turn on the mobile hotspot on a Samsung phone, it broadcasts under the device name with an autogenerated password. That default network name is often confusing for guests and reveals your phone model to anyone scanning nearby networks. You can replace both the name and password before sharing your connection.
Turn Off Personalized Ads on Samsung
If ads in your apps feel oddly specific to sites you visited or things you searched, Google's Advertising ID is behind it. This ID lets ad networks build a profile from your app and browsing activity, then match ads to your interests across different apps and services.
Mark a Contact as Favorite
If a contact you call or text often keeps sliding down your list, Favorites pins them to the top - but only once the flag is actually switched on for that person. On Samsung phones this same flag also controls the pinned row in the Phone app, so the two lists never match up on their own.
