Show Contact Info on the Lock Screen
If your Samsung phone or tablet ends up lost, the lock screen normally gives a stranger no way to reach you. Anyone who picks up the device sees this text without unlocking it, so think twice before adding sensitive details.
Turn Navigation Gesture Vibrations On or Off
Every tap on the navigation bar buttons triggers a short buzz on your Samsung phone, and that constant vibration gets annoying fast if you swipe through apps often. The feedback comes from a separate haptic setting for navigation gestures, not the general vibration toggle, so switching off standard notification vibration does not stop it. Samsung lets you shorten or lengthen this response time instead of living with either annoyance.
Turn Notifications On or Off for Individual Apps
If one app keeps buzzing your phone with alerts you no longer want, you don't have to mute your whole device to fix it. Samsung lets you manage notification permissions per app, so you can silence a chatty game or a busy WhatsApp group chat while alerts from your other apps keep working. Some apps even split their notifications into categories, letting you block group messages while direct messages still come through.
Change Default Apps
If tapping a link always opens the wrong browser, or a newly installed messaging app never launches automatically, a leftover default app assignment is still active. Samsung keeps separate default apps for actions like opening links, sending texts or making calls, and a fresh install does not take over automatically. Until you reassign it, the old app keeps handling those actions.
Turn USB Tethering On or Off
If your laptop or PC does not pick up an internet connection after you plug in your Samsung phone, USB tethering is probably still switched off. This feature routes your mobile data through the USB cable instead of Wi-Fi, which helps when public Wi-Fi is blocked, slow, or unavailable. Without the toggle enabled, the computer detects the cable but never actually goes online.
Change Notification Vibration Pattern
If every app buzzes your phone the same way, you cannot tell a message from a calendar reminder without checking the screen. A few built-in patterns are available, but the option is easy to miss since it sits away from the main sound settings.
Set Up Fingerprint Unlock
If your Samsung phone only wakes up with a pattern, PIN, or password, the fingerprint sensor sits unused even though it can unlock the device just as reliably. This usually happens because Fingerprints was never switched on in the lock screen settings, even after a fingerprint got registered. Without that toggle enabled, every unlock still needs the full pattern or code, no matter how many fingerprints are stored.

Turn Screen Rotation On or Off
