If ads in apps still feel oddly personalized even though you never searched for those products, your Samsung Advertising ID is likely the cause. This identifier lets ad networks, including Google, connect your app activity into a profile used for targeted ads. Getting a fresh ID breaks that connection without touching your account or app data.
Share a Calendar Event
Trying to send a meeting or birthday reminder to someone who does not use the same calendar app? Samsung Calendar lets you export the event as a text message or as a universal ICS file that opens directly in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar. Picking the wrong format is the main reason recipients cannot add the event properly.
Screenshot Toolbar On/Off
If a small toolbar keeps popping up at the bottom of the screen every time you capture a screenshot on your Samsung phone, this quick-access bar is getting in the way instead of helping. It lets you crop, share or annotate the image right away, but it can also feel like clutter if you rarely use those shortcuts or if it blocks other content on screen.
Switch Between Front and Rear Camera
Jumping from a landscape shot to a quick selfie shouldn't mean closing the Camera app and reopening it. On Samsung phones the front and rear lenses share one interface, but the small switch icon is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Set Up a Proxy Server for Wi-Fi
If your workplace or school network requires all traffic to pass through a specific server, a normal Wi-Fi connection on your Samsung phone will not get you online. Without the correct proxy host and port entered in the Wi-Fi settings, apps and browsers simply time out or show a connection error. This setup only affects the Wi-Fi network you configure it on, not mobile data.
Turn Predictive Text On or Off
Predictive text on the Samsung keyboard suggests words as you type, based on your past entries. If suggestions feel outdated, oddly personal, or simply distracting while you type, the keyboard's learning behavior is usually the cause. Turning predictive text off stops new suggestions and keeps the keyboard from adapting further to your typing history.
Change Folder Color on Home Screen
App folders on Samsung phones default to plain white or gray, which makes it hard to tell them apart at a glance. If you want folders to match your wallpaper or stand out visually, the color has to be changed manually per folder. You can also adjust how see-through the color appears.
Turn On/Off Accidental Touch Protection

Samsung's Reset all settings option restores default values for sound, language, security, and other system menus while keeping apps, photos, and contacts exactly where they are. It is the safer alternative when you do not want to go through a complete factory reset.
Show or Hide the Lockdown Button in the Power Menu
Face Detection, Smart Lock and even the fingerprint sensor are convenient, but none of them is the strongest lock on your phone. Samsung adds a Lockdown entry to the power menu that forces a PIN, pattern or password before anyone gets in, overriding those biometric shortcuts. If that button is missing, or you want it gone for good, the toggle sits in a spot most people never check.
Sort Contacts by First or Last Name
If your contact list on a Samsung phone lines up alphabetically by first name when you expected last-name order, the sort setting inside the Contacts app is responsible, not the Phone app itself. This mismatch shows up the same way in Calls and Messages, since both pull from the same contact list. Switching the sort order only takes a moment once you know where the setting lives.
Lock or Unlock Home Screen Layout
If apps and widgets keep shifting position on your Samsung home screen, or a new app suddenly lands in the wrong spot, the layout is probably unlocked. This lets the system rearrange icons automatically and lets accidental long-presses move things around. Locking the layout stops both issues at once.
Manage Google Activity Controls
A new Google Account on your Samsung phone starts with every activity setting switched on. Google then logs Web & App activity, browsing history, YouTube history and builds a profile for personalized ads, often without you noticing how much data actually leaves the device.
Move Photos and Videos to an Album
Photos and videos from your camera or downloads often end up scattered across different albums, making it hard to find anything later. Samsung Gallery lets you move or copy several files into one album at once, but the prompt asking whether to copy or move can be confusing the first time you see it.
Set Up Fingerprint Unlock
If your Samsung phone only wakes up with a pattern, PIN, or password, the fingerprint sensor sits unused even though it can unlock the device just as reliably. This usually happens because Fingerprints was never switched on in the lock screen settings, even after a fingerprint got registered. Without that toggle enabled, every unlock still needs the full pattern or code, no matter how many fingerprints are stored.
Export Contacts as vCard
Switching to a new phone or backing up your contact list only works if you can get every saved entry out of the Contacts app in one file. Without exporting first, you are left copying numbers one by one. Samsung phones can bundle everything into a single vCard file that other devices, apps and services can read.
Create a Contact Group
Sending the same text to five people one at a time gets old fast, and forwarding photos to the same circle of friends over and over wastes time. Samsung's Contacts app lets you bundle recipients into a group, so calls, texts, and emails go out to everyone at once. You can also give the group its own ringtone to spot incoming calls immediately.
Set Up Smart Lock
If your Samsung phone still asks for a PIN at home, in the car, or when it is paired with your smartwatch, Smart Lock is probably switched off. This Android feature keeps the device unlocked when it detects a trusted place, a trusted Bluetooth device, or that you are carrying it. Without it enabled, you fall back to manual unlocking every single time, even in low-risk situations.
Turn Camera Voice Commands On or Off
If your Samsung phone only snaps a photo when you tap the shutter button, press a volume key or use a floating release, you might be missing the hands-free option. Samsung Camera also supports a voice shutter that lets you say a command instead of touching the screen. This only works once the Voice commands option is switched on in the camera settings.
Switch Navigation Bar Between Buttons and Gestures
If your Samsung phone shows three buttons at the bottom instead of a slim gesture bar - or the other way round - you can switch the layout yourself. Some people find the thin gesture bar too easy to trigger by accident, while others miss the dedicated Back button once gestures are active. The right setup depends on how confidently you swipe versus tap.
Turn Screen Rotation On or Off
If your Samsung screen stays locked in portrait mode even when you turn the device sideways, the Auto rotate function is switched off. The opposite problem also happens: the display keeps flipping between portrait and landscape when you just want it to stay put. Change SIM Card PIN
If your carrier has SIM PIN protection turned on, your phone asks for that code every time you restart it or reinsert the card. Many people never changed this PIN from the default one their provider assigned, which is a security risk if the phone gets lost. On a Dual SIM device you also need to pick the correct slot before the change takes effect.
Remove Apps from Secure Folder
Apps inside Secure Folder run as separate copies, so deleting them there never touches the original app installed on your phone. Tapping and holding an app icon and hitting Uninstall looks like a shortcut, but it is easy to pick the wrong option or wonder why the app still exists outside Secure Folder afterward. Knowing what actually happens to that duplicate clears up the confusion.
