Turn On/Off Easy Mode
If icons, text and notifications on your Samsung phone suddenly look oversized, Easy mode is probably active. It maximizes screen zoom and simplifies the layout, which can push some app icons or widgets off the home screen. Turning it off restores your normal display settings and icon arrangement.

Switch Between 12-Hour and 24-Hour Time Format
Samsung phones show the clock in 24-hour format out of the box, which throws off anyone used to reading AM and PM. If your lock screen, status bar, and alarms all display times like 14:30 instead of 2:30 PM, the format toggle in your date and time settings is responsible. Switching it affects the whole system, including notifications and the calendar.
Enable Developer Options
Developer options do not show up anywhere in the regular Settings menu on Samsung phones, even though they hold useful tools like USB debugging and animation scaling. Samsung hides this section on purpose so casual users cannot change system-level behavior by accident. Without unlocking it first, you cannot use apps or tools that rely on debugging or developer-level access.
Disable Automatic Hotspot 2.0 Wi-Fi Connection

Lock or Unlock Home Screen Layout
If apps and widgets keep shifting position on your Samsung home screen, or a new app suddenly lands in the wrong spot, the layout is probably unlocked. Move Photos and Videos to an Album
Photos and videos from your camera or downloads often end up scattered across different albums, making it hard to find anything later. Samsung Gallery lets you move or copy several files into one album at once, but the prompt asking whether to copy or move can be confusing the first time you see it.
Set Up Fingerprint Unlock
If your Samsung phone only wakes up with a pattern, PIN, or password, the fingerprint sensor sits unused even though it can unlock the device just as reliably. This usually happens because Fingerprints was never switched on in the lock screen settings, even after a fingerprint got registered. Set Up Smart Lock
If your Samsung phone still asks for a PIN at home, in the car, or when it is paired with your smartwatch, Smart Lock is probably switched off. This Android feature keeps the device unlocked when it detects a trusted place, a trusted Bluetooth device, or that you are carrying it. Without it enabled, you fall back to manual unlocking every single time, even in low-risk situations.
Switch Navigation Bar Between Buttons and Gestures
If your Samsung phone shows three buttons at the bottom instead of a slim gesture bar - or the other way round - you can switch the layout yourself. Some people find the thin gesture bar too easy to trigger by accident, while others miss the dedicated Back button once gestures are active. The right setup depends on how confidently you swipe versus tap.
Turn Screen Rotation On or Off
If your Samsung screen stays locked in portrait mode even when you turn the device sideways, the Auto rotate function is switched off. Turn On/Off Faster Face Recognition
If your Samsung phone unlocks even when someone holds up a photo or video of your face, the Faster recognition option is likely turned on. This setting speeds up face unlock but skips some of the depth checks that normally block spoofing attempts. Turning it off makes recognition a touch slower but much harder to trick.
Show or Hide Lock Screen Pattern Trail
If you swipe a pattern to unlock your Samsung phone, the line you draw stays visible on screen the whole time, which means anyone glancing over your shoulder can trace it. You can swap it for another preset tone or a custom sound file, but the option sits inside a separate sound menu that many people never open.
Turn Call Barring On or Off
If your Samsung phone keeps rejecting calls while roaming or blocks all outgoing calls without an obvious reason, Call barring is likely active in the background. Turn Do Not Disturb On/Off
When Do Not Disturb silences every call and notification on your Samsung phone, a call from your parents can end up muted right along with spam.
