Turn Keyboard Sounds On or Off
Every tap on the Samsung keyboard triggers a click sound that can get annoying, especially in quiet rooms or during calls. This tone runs independently from your ringtone, notification and media volume, so lowering those won't silence it. Two separate settings areas manage the keypad tone, and mixing them up is the usual reason one toggle does not seem to work.
Turn Notification Reminders On or Off
By default your Samsung phone only announces a new notification once, with a tone or vibration depending on the sound mode. If you tend to miss messages because you were busy or the screen was off, a single alert is not enough. Notification reminders let the device nudge you again at a set interval until you actually open the notification.
Change System Sound Volume
If the sound for taking a screenshot or capturing a photo suddenly cannot be turned off on its own anymore, Samsung has likely bundled it into a shared system sound category. This means several alert tones now share one volume slider instead of separate toggles. Adjusting the level for this group affects every sound tied to it at once, not just one action.
Turn an Alarm On or Off
New alarms on a Samsung phone switch on automatically the moment you save them, which is why a forgotten wake-up call can fire off the next morning without warning. Turning an alarm off does not delete it - the entry stays saved and ready to switch back on later. The toggle can be flipped from inside the Clock app or directly from an alarm widget placed on your home screen.
Change Notification Volume
The notification tone announces every alert on your phone, from messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook to calendar reminders, but it runs on its own separate volume level. If reminders are too loud during meetings or too quiet to notice in a busy room, the ring or media volume buttons will not fix it. You need to adjust this level directly in the sound settings.
Change Ringtone for Calls
If every call on your Samsung phone still uses the same generic ringtone, the setting is hiding under sound options rather than notifications. On dual-SIM phones this gets more confusing, since each SIM line can carry its own separate ringtone. Custom tracks also will not show up in the ringtone list until they are copied onto the phone storage first.
Turn Notifications On or Off for Individual Apps
If one app keeps buzzing your phone with alerts you no longer want, you don't have to mute your whole device to fix it. Samsung lets you manage notification permissions per app, so you can silence a chatty game or a busy WhatsApp group chat while alerts from your other apps keep working. Some apps even split their notifications into categories, letting you block group messages while direct messages still come through.
Snooze a Notification
If a notification pops up at the wrong moment, dismissing it means losing track of it completely. Samsung phones let you hide a notification and bring it back after a set time instead of swiping it away for good. Once the timer runs out, the alert returns with its usual sound and pop-up, just like the first time.
Change Notification Sound
Notification tones on Samsung phones stay stuck on the default chime even when you have already changed your ringtone. Dual SIM devices let you assign a separate sound to each SIM card, but the tone list only offers standard, built-in options. There is no way to import a custom notification sound directly from this menu.
Change Alarm Sound
If every alarm on your Samsung phone still plays the same default tone, you probably haven't discovered that each alarm can carry its own sound. Many users only ever adjust the general alarm tone and miss the option hidden inside a single alarm entry. This means the loudest, most jarring tone often wakes you every morning even when a gentler option is available.
