When several apps send alerts at the same time, the Samsung status bar only keeps the three newest notification icons visible and quietly drops the rest. Restore Backup from Samsung Cloud
After a factory reset or on a new Samsung phone, photos, contacts, and app data can be missing even though a backup exists in Samsung Cloud. Samsung lets you keep the clock and notifications on permanently or restrict them to set hours, and picking the wrong option either wastes battery or leaves you missing glances at your screen.
Turn Maximum Power Saving Mode On or Off
When your Samsung phone suddenly runs painfully slow, background apps stop updating, and the Always On Display disappears, Maximum power saving is likely active. This mode cuts CPU speed to roughly 70 percent, blocks most background data, and only allows a limited number of apps to run. If you turned it on for an emergency and now need full performance back, or you want to switch it on before a long day away from a charger, you need the correct toggle in Battery settings.
Change Google Backup Account
If Samsung keeps backing up your data to the wrong Google Account, your photos, contacts and app settings end up in a profile you barely use. This usually happens when a second Google Account gets added to the phone after the first backup was already set up. Samsung sticks with the account chosen during initial setup until you switch it manually in the backup settings.
Close All Tabs in Samsung Internet
Too many open tabs in Samsung Internet slow the browser down and make it hard to find the page you actually need. Scrolling through dozens of thumbnails just to spot one tab wastes time and drains memory. Closing unused tabs regularly keeps the browser fast and responsive.
Turn Keyboard Sounds On or Off
Every tap on the Samsung keyboard triggers a click sound that can get annoying, especially in quiet rooms or during calls. This tone runs independently from your ringtone, notification and media volume, so lowering those won't silence it. Two separate settings areas manage the keypad tone, and mixing them up is the usual reason one toggle does not seem to work.
Enable or Disable Quick Launch Camera
If a double press of the power button keeps opening your camera at the wrong moment, or you want that shortcut back after it stopped working, the Quick launch camera option is behind it. This function reacts to the side key whether the screen is on or off, and it ships active on most Samsung phones. A few taps let you turn it off or bring it back.
Change System Sound Volume
If the sound for taking a screenshot or capturing a photo suddenly cannot be turned off on its own anymore, Samsung has likely bundled it into a shared system sound category. This means several alert tones now share one volume slider instead of separate toggles. Adjusting the level for this group affects every sound tied to it at once, not just one action.
Change Ringtone for Calls
If every call on your Samsung phone still uses the same generic ringtone, the setting is hiding under sound options rather than notifications. On dual-SIM phones this gets more confusing, since each SIM line can carry its own separate ringtone. Custom tracks also will not show up in the ringtone list until they are copied onto the phone storage first.

Videos embedded in web pages start playing the moment a site loads in Samsung Internet, even over mobile data. That eats into your data plan and drains the battery before you have tapped anything on the page.
Change Edge Lighting Effects and Colors
By default, Edge lighting shows new notifications with a blue spotlight effect no matter which app sends them. That makes it hard to tell notifications apart without unlocking the screen. Samsung One UI offers several alternative effects and a full color picker to fix that.
Change Contact Name Format
If your contacts list shows names as First Name, Last Name and you would rather see Last Name, First Name, the display setting inside the Contacts app controls that order. This has nothing to do with how a contact was originally saved, so switching the format does not touch any contact data. The change only affects how names appear across Calls and Messages, not the underlying entries or numbers.
Adjust Display Brightness
If your Samsung screen stays too dim or too bright no matter the lighting, the brightness slider might be locked to Adaptive brightness instead of manual control. This drains the battery faster and makes reading outdoors or at night harder than it needs to be. Switching to manual brightness gives you direct control over how much power the display uses.
Download New Font Styles

Change Notification Sound
Notification tones on Samsung phones stay stuck on the default chime even when you have already changed your ringtone. Dual SIM devices let you assign a separate sound to each SIM card, but the tone list only offers standard, built-in options. There is no way to import a custom notification sound directly from this menu.
Set Default Keyboard
Installed a new keyboard app but your Galaxy phone still opens Samsung Keyboard for typing? That happens because a freshly installed keyboard is not automatically allowed to become the default input method. It first has to be switched on in the keyboard manager before the system even offers it as an option.
Restore Deleted Photos from Gallery Trash
A photo or video you thought was gone might still be recoverable on your Samsung phone. The Gallery app keeps deleted files in a hidden Trash folder, but only for a limited time before they are wiped for good. If the recycle bin was switched off or the file is older than the retention window, recovery is no longer possible.
