Turn On-body Detection On or Off
If your Samsung phone stays unlocked the moment you pick it up, on-body detection is quietly keeping Smart Lock active. The motion sensor cannot always tell your hand from a bag or pocket, so the lock screen sometimes gets skipped when it should not. That mix-up affects both battery use and how secure the phone stays when it changes hands.
Lock or Unlock Home Screen Layout
If apps and widgets keep shifting position on your Samsung home screen, or a new app suddenly lands in the wrong spot, the layout is probably unlocked. This lets the system rearrange icons automatically and lets accidental long-presses move things around. Locking the layout stops both issues at once.
Media Volume Limit: Turn On or Off
If music, calls or videos through headphones or a Bluetooth speaker suddenly sound quieter than the volume slider suggests, the Media volume limit is active. This system function caps loudness independently from the normal volume control and can be locked behind a PIN. Change SIM Card Icon

Clear Call Log
Every incoming, outgoing, missed and rejected call stays listed in the Samsung Phone app until you remove it yourself. Old numbers, call times, durations and even the SIM card used pile up over weeks, which can be a privacy issue if someone else picks up your phone. There is no automatic cleanup, so the log only grows unless you clear it manually.
Turn Do Not Disturb On/Off
When Do Not Disturb silences every call and notification on your Samsung phone, a call from your parents can end up muted right along with spam. Do Not Disturb runs either as a manual toggle or on a fixed schedule, and it treats every contact the same until you define exceptions. Missing an urgent message or a wake-up alarm often traces back to this one setting being active without you noticing.
Change Mobile Hotspot Wi-Fi Band
When several devices crowd the same Wi-Fi channel, your Samsung hotspot connection can slow down noticeably. Switching the mobile hotspot band lets you pick a less congested frequency, but the option disappears if Wi-Fi sharing is turned on.
Add an App to Do Not Disturb Exceptions
If WhatsApp calls or Facebook messages stay silent while Do Not Disturb is active, the app is not listed as an exception yet. Samsung mutes every notification by default once the mode is on, even from apps you consider urgent. Adding the app to the exception list lets its alerts pass through regardless of the mode.
Turn On/Off Widgets on Lock Screen
If the music player, next alarm, or calendar no longer shows up on your Samsung lock screen, the Widgets option is likely switched off. Some people want the opposite and disable widgets entirely, since alarms, app info, or playback controls can be visible without unlocking the device. Both directions are controlled from the same lock screen setting.
Hide or Unhide Gallery Albums
When apps like messaging, social media, or cloud backups create extra folders in your Gallery, the album list gets cluttered fast. Samsung Gallery lets you hide those albums from the overview without deleting any photos or videos inside them.
Add Bookmark Shortcut to Home Screen
If you open the same website every day, digging through saved bookmarks in Samsung Internet gets old fast. Pinning that page to your home screen turns it into a tappable icon, right next to your apps, that you can move or drop into a folder like any other shortcut.
Add a Fingerprint on Samsung
Trying to unlock your Samsung phone with your fingerprint but the option in Settings stays greyed out? Samsung always requires a backup PIN, password, or pattern before the Fingerprints menu becomes available. Without that secondary lock set first, you cannot enrol a new fingerprint at all.
Turn Open-Eyes Requirement for Face Recognition On or Off
If your Samsung phone unlocks with Face recognition even when your eyes are closed, the open-eyes requirement is probably switched off. On some devices it works the other way around, and the phone refuses to unlock unless your eyes are wide open, which gets annoying if you wear glasses or are half asleep. Remove Face Recognition Data

Reset Advertising ID

This identifier lets ad networks, including Google, connect your app activity into a profile used for targeted ads. Set a Lock Screen with Pattern, PIN or Password
If your Samsung phone still starts up without asking for a Pattern, PIN or Password, anyone who picks it up can open your apps, messages and photos right away. Add a Photo to a Contact
If a contact still shows only the first letter of the name or one of the animated default images that come with your Samsung device, calls and messages look generic instead of personal. Show or Hide the Lockdown Button in the Power Menu
Face Detection, Smart Lock and even the fingerprint sensor are convenient, but none of them is the strongest lock on your phone. Samsung adds a Lockdown entry to the power menu that forces a PIN, pattern or password before anyone gets in, overriding those biometric shortcuts. If that button is missing, or you want it gone for good, the toggle sits in a spot most people never check.
Show or Hide Public Holidays in Calendar
If public holidays keep showing up in your Samsung Calendar even though you never added them, they are pulled in automatically from a signed-in Google Account. Which country's holidays appear depends on the region or language set in your system preferences, not on the calendar app itself. Turning them off means adjusting the display settings for that specific account, not deleting entries one by one.
Enable or Disable Contacts Recycle Bin
On Samsung phones, deleted contacts don't vanish right away. They sit in a hidden recycle bin for 15 days before being erased for good, which can be confusing if you expect a contact to disappear instantly. Some people prefer to skip this safety net entirely and want deletions to be final immediately.
