Turn Off Developer Options
Once Developer options are enabled on a Samsung phone, they stay in Settings even if you never touch them again. The extra menu entry does not affect performance or battery life, but some users prefer a clean settings list without it.
Turn Call Barring On or Off
If your Samsung phone keeps rejecting calls while roaming or blocks all outgoing calls without an obvious reason, Call barring is likely active in the background. Turn Fast Charging On or Off
If your Samsung phone gets noticeably warm while charging or you worry about long-term battery wear, Fast charging in the battery settings is usually the reason. Leaving it active while the phone sits on the charger overnight adds unnecessary heat and stress to the battery for no real benefit.
Customize Lock Screen Notification Style
By default, Samsung phones show a small app icon on the lock screen for every new notification, without any details. If you want to see who messaged you or read a preview before unlocking, that icon-only view can feel too limited. If the Print option in your Gallery stays greyed out or no printer shows up, the built-in printing service on your Samsung phone or tablet is not finding a compatible printer. Default Reminder Time for Calendar Events

Change Screen Mode
If your Samsung display looks too cool, too warm, or oddly oversaturated, the wrong screen mode is usually the cause. Samsung splits colour rendering into Vivid and Natural, and each mode reacts differently to the white balance slider. If your home screen still shows the default Samsung icon set even after installing an icon pack from the Galaxy Store, the pack is downloaded but not switched on yet. One UI keeps custom icon sets separate from your current app grid until you apply them manually inside the Themes app. No root access or third-party launcher is required to activate them.
Open a New Tab in Samsung Internet
Trying to check a second website without losing the page you already have open? Samsung Internet handles this through tabs, and if you don't know where the option sits, you end up replacing your current page instead of adding a new one. This mainly affects people switching from other browsers where the tab icon looks different.
Turn Alternative Characters On or Off
If the Samsung Keyboard suddenly swaps letters for symbols like the question mark, plus sign, or euro symbol while you type, the Alternative characters function is active. This can slow you down when you need letters and numbers mixed together, for example in passwords or addresses. A setting inside the keyboard layout controls whether this swap happens automatically.
Turn On/Off Assistant Menu
If reaching the physical Home, Back or volume buttons with one hand feels awkward, the Assistant menu replaces them with a floating panel of on-screen shortcuts. The panel can be dragged to any spot on the display and holds up to 12 buttons, but on many phones it stays switched off or shows shortcuts you never use.
Set Default Dialer App
If you install a third-party calling app but Samsung's own Phone app still opens for calls and messages, the default dialer assignment hasn't changed yet. This also affects which app handles your call log and dial pad, similar to how default apps work for Home, Browser or Messages. A screen lock can sometimes stop an alternative dialer from launching calls correctly.
