Change Select to Speak Voice Output auf Xiaomi
Select to Speak relies on the phone's text-to-speech engine to read out marked content. If that engine is left on its default configuration, the voice can sound too slow, too fast, or simply flat, no matter how well Select to Speak itself is set up.
MIUI keeps the fine-tuning options for this voice in a dedicated settings screen instead of inside Select to Speak directly. That is why increasing the speaking rate or changing the pitch feels hidden at first.
Where to find the voice settings
Open Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Vision ➔ Select to Speak. From there, open Settings again and tap Text to speech settings.
This screen holds the speaking rate slider, the pitch slider and the language selector for the voice used by Select to Speak. Moving the speaking rate slider to the right makes the voice talk faster; moving it left slows it down.
Pitch and language work the same way: open the same Text to speech settings screen and adjust the matching slider or dropdown. Changes apply immediately, so you can test the result with Select to Speak right after adjusting a value.
If the voice still sounds wrong after changing these values, the installed text-to-speech engine itself might need a different voice pack, which is a separate setting on the same screen.
