Allow or Block the Modify System Settings Permission auf Android
Some apps ask Android for permission to change system-level settings such as ringtones, wallpapers, display themes, or accessibility toggles. This access is separate from lock screen security and password protection - it only affects cosmetic and convenience settings on your phone.
Android groups this permission under special app access, since it is not requested through the usual runtime permission popup. Instead, apps request it once and then rely on you granting or revoking it manually in system settings.
If an app changes your ringtone, theme, or wallpaper without your input, this permission is almost always the reason. Disabling it stops the app from making further automatic changes, but it may also break features you actually want, such as automatic dark mode switching or custom notification sounds tied to that app.
To check or change which apps hold this access, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Apps ➔ Tap on Special app access ➔ Tap on Modify system settings ➔ Choose an App ➔ Enable or disable Allow modifying system settings.
If the affected setting relates to notification sounds inside a specific app rather than ringtones or themes, check that app's own settings first, since some sound profiles are controlled there rather than through this system permission.
