Delayed SMS and MMS

Incoming text messages are delayed until I open the messaging app. Currently on Verizon and using messages Plus. Worked on all previous phones.

Is that the moment when the messages arrive, or are you not notified until then?
Have you checked all the notification channels and activated them if necessary?

I checked all settings. Everything is set to allow notifications through. It seems random, but they don't actually deliver until I open the message system.as an example, my family was sending a group text message and 9 messages notify and come through at once. I'm not any place where I am roaming for cellular service, and I usually have almost full 4G service.
hello ysipuew. i'm just hearing this for the first time from "message+". so it's an alternative message app. has it been set as the default sms app? another problem can be battery optimization (unfortunately only just a manual from huawei there):
Simulator wird geladen…Battery optimization for message plus is off. I did also find a setting for unrestricted data and turn that on for message plus. I will see if that has any affect.
