Messaging app problem

I often need to select messages in a messaging conversation and I do this by pressing and holding the individual message at the moment that intermittently fails to work and I can't delete or copy individual messages. Advice wecome.

    Have you already tried clearing the messaging app cache? It could be a system-error.

    Yes. Tried that. What system error, a d what do I do? Other apps work fine.

    Did it work fine before?

    Unfortunately I can't tell if this is a system error or not.

    If everything else works, please check if updates are available.

    If necessary, you can download another messaging app from the Play Store.
