Read Text on Images: Enable or Disable
If your Huawei phone stays silent when you point the camera at a sign or open a photo full of text, the Read text on images option inside Select to speak is probably switched off. This feature can read printed text aloud from photos and the live camera viewfinder, but it only works once the right accessibility permission is granted. Enable or Disable Keypad Tones

Set a Data Limit for the WiFi Hotspot
If you turn on the mobile hotspot on your Huawei phone, connected devices can burn through your data plan fast without any warning. Without a fixed data limit, EMUI keeps the hotspot running until you switch it off manually or your plan runs dry. Setting a limit lets the phone stop the hotspot on its own before you go over your allowance.
Move Apps Into a Folder
On many Huawei home screens a folder only ever seems to hold two apps, so new icons keep piling up outside it. The home screen gets crowded again even though a folder already exists for exactly those apps. Copy Contacts to Phone, SIM or Google

This mix-up happens because the same Add button handles both copying and moving photos. Knowing which option actually relocates the picture keeps your albums tidy and frees up space.
Smile Detection Auto-Capture Toggle
If your Huawei camera keeps snapping photos on its own, Smile capture might be quietly working in the background. This feature scans faces in the viewfinder and fires the shutter the moment it spots a smile, even when you did not plan to take a picture. That behavior gets annoying fast during group shots or when you just want to frame a scene without triggering random captures.
Add a New Home Screen Page
Running out of room on your Huawei home screen because every page is packed with icons? EMUI has no dedicated 'add page' button in settings - a new page only appears once you drag an app icon far enough toward the screen edge. If you only see icons snap back to the same page instead of a fresh one appearing, the drag distance or drop zone is likely off.
Reset All System Settings
If your Huawei phone keeps auto-connecting to a WiFi network you no longer trust, or fingerprint and face unlock refuse to work properly, a broken settings profile is often the cause. Resetting all settings clears these configurations without touching your photos, apps, or documents. It is easy to confuse this with a full factory reset, which does erase your data.
Enable or Disable Automatic App Updates
If apps on your Huawei phone keep updating over mobile data and eating into your data plan, the Auto-update apps setting in the Play Store is set too broadly. The same setting also explains why apps stop updating entirely once you are off Wi-Fi. Adjusting it lets you decide exactly when and how updates get installed.
Enable or Disable Call Waiting
If a second call comes in while you are already on a call, your Huawei phone plays a short knocking tone and shows a notification on screen. This alert comes from the Call waiting setting in the Phone app, and turning it off silences the notification for incoming calls during an active conversation. On dual SIM devices, this setting can behave differently depending on which SIM line receives the call.
Usage & Diagnostics Reporting Settings
If your Huawei phone keeps sending device and app data even though you thought you switched tracking off, the Usage & diagnostics setting is usually the cause. It controls whether diagnostic reports, crash logs and app usage details leave your device, separate from the checks needed for updates. Turning it off does not stop your phone from receiving system and security updates.
Change Home Screen Layout
If your Huawei phone only shows a 4x6 icon grid, you might be running out of room for apps without extra scrolling. Huawei lets you switch to a denser 5x5 or 5x6 layout on many models, but the exact options depend on the phone you own. Some devices show fewer grid choices or hide the setting under a slightly different name.
Delete an Alarm
Old wake-up times and one-off alarms pile up fast in the Clock app, and after a while it gets hard to tell which alarm actually still matters. This shortcut is controlled through the Assist app setting, not through the Google app itself. If the overlay keeps popping up during normal navigation, you can switch the shortcut off completely.
Quick Settings: Manage Toggles
If NFC, mobile data or the flashlight toggle keep disappearing from your Quick Settings, the panel setup needs adjusting rather than the swipe gesture. Huawei phones only show a limited set of switches by default, so frequently used ones can end up missing. This slows down access to functions you'd normally toggle in one move.
Remove App from Folder
If you tucked an app into a folder on your Huawei home screen and now open it every day, digging through the folder each time gets old fast. EMUI does not force you to keep an app buried once it turns out you use it constantly. Moving it back out only takes a drag, as long as there is open space on the home screen to drop it.
Clear Browsing History in the Browser App
If your Huawei browser keeps suggesting sites you visited weeks ago, the address bar is pulling from stored browsing history. Clearing it removes every visited page from the record, not just a single suggestion.
Enable or Disable Call Forwarding
By default, your Huawei phone forwards calls according to your carrier's standard settings, not your own preferences. Calls might get diverted whenever your line is busy, goes unanswered or your device is unreachable, even if you never asked for that behavior. Each of these three forwarding conditions can be switched on or off separately.
Enable or Disable Airplane Mode
When airplane mode is switched on, your Huawei phone drops every connection at once, including mobile network, mobile data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If your Huawei phone stopped connecting to your provider's standard network after you searched for a carrier manually, automatic network selection is likely turned off. Move a Widget on the Home Screen
When a widget lands in an awkward spot on your Huawei home screen, it can block app icons or throw off your layout. Many people assume they have to remove the widget and add it again to fix its position. The widget can actually be repositioned directly, without deleting it first.
Enable or Disable Notification Dots per App
