Format Memory Card
A new memory card in your Huawei phone often shows up empty or throws a 'not formatted' warning before you can save anything to it. Existing files stay untouched until you format the card, and formatting also builds the folder structure needed for photos, apps and backups. This step deletes everything already stored on the card, so back up anything important first.
Enable or Disable Automatic Data Backup

If no account is linked yet, or the wrong one is selected, Backup & restore looks active but stays empty. This mix-up is common on phones that were set up with a second or work Google account.
Back Up to Google Drive
If you are not sure whether your Huawei phone is actually saving contacts, photos, and app data anywhere, the Back up to Google option in system settings might be switched off. Without an active backup account selected, restoring your data after a factory reset or device swap becomes much harder.
Set Priority Storage on SD Card
