Enable or Disable Google Voice Typing
Typing long messages on your Huawei phone takes forever when you have to tap out every word by hand. Google voice typing turns spoken words into text directly in the keyboard, but on many EMUI devices the option is buried and easy to miss or accidentally switch off. After a restart the feature can also seem to disappear until the phone is unlocked again.
Enable or Disable Autocorrect
When Huawei's keyboard swaps in the wrong word right as you hit send, the SwiftKey autocorrect feature is usually to blame. It rewrites words mid-sentence based on its suggestion bar, even when the word you typed was already correct. If this keeps producing typos or awkward phrasing in your messages, you can switch the feature off or back on in a few taps.
Delete a Folder from the Home Screen
A folder full of apps still sits on your Huawei home screen and there is no obvious delete option in the long-press menu. EMUI treats folders as containers, not standalone objects, so the delete function only kicks in once the folder is almost empty. If you just want the group gone without losing any apps, the trick is moving apps out one by one.
Merge Duplicate Contacts
Seeing the same person listed twice or three times in your phonebook usually means the contact was saved separately by your SIM, a synced account, and an app like WhatsApp. Each source keeps its own entry until you combine them, which also splits Calls and Messages history across multiple records. Huawei's built-in merge function is designed to clean this up without deleting any of the underlying data.
Enable or Disable URL Specific Keys
When typing a web address on your Huawei phone, the keyboard sometimes swaps in extra shortcut keys like .com or / above the letters. This behavior comes from a dedicated typing option inside the SwiftKey keyboard that reacts to the input field type. If the shortcuts are missing or showing up where you do not want them, this setting is the cause.
Delete a Single SMS or Message
Deleting an entire conversation wipes out every message at once, even the ones you wanted to keep. On a Huawei phone, you can also pull just one SMS or chat message out of a thread without touching the rest. That matters when a typo, an old address, or a message sent to the wrong person is sitting in an otherwise useful conversation.
Record a Video with the Camera App
If you open the Camera app and only see photo controls, video recording is not obvious at first glance. Many Huawei users miss the shutter button change and end up taking a photo instead of starting a video. Switching modes correctly also affects whether you can pause and resume the clip mid-recording.
Enable or Disable Password Vault
If your Huawei phone stops offering to save login credentials or keeps autofilling old passwords you no longer want stored, the built-in Password Vault is either disabled or already holding data you need to manage. This local credential manager only works once a screen lock password is set, which is why activation sometimes fails silently. Disable Lock Screen Password
If you want to stop entering a PIN or pattern every time you unlock your Huawei phone, you can remove the lock screen password completely. Enable or Disable 'Ask for Location' in Browser
If websites on your Huawei phone keep asking for your location every time you open them, or never ask at all, the browser's own permission setting is behind that behavior. This option sits inside the browser's site settings and works separately from the phone's general location toggle. Turning it off stops every website from requesting your position, while turning it on lets sites ask individually.
Delete a Fingerprint
If a fingerprint no longer unlocks your Huawei phone reliably, or someone else registered a print for temporary access, you can remove individual entries from Fingerprint management. Once the last saved print is gone, fingerprint unlock switches off on its own until you register a new one.
Flash Notification Light: Enable or Disable

EMUI offers a built-in function that locks the card to your device, but it changes how and where the card can be read.
Reset Accessibility Settings
When Huawei's accessibility features cause more problems than they solve - a screen reader that will not stop, magnification stuck at the wrong zoom, or color inversion you can not switch off - manual adjustments often do not fix it. This tends to happen after testing several accessibility options together, since settings can overlap and conflict with each other. Resetting the accessibility menu clears every custom option back to default, without touching your other phone data.
Delete a User Account
If several people share the same Huawei phone, each extra user gets a separate profile with its own apps, photos, and settings. Only the device owner or an administrator can remove one of these profiles, and doing so wipes every file and setting tied to that account for good. Before you remove a profile, it helps to know exactly where the delete option sits and what data disappears with it.
Limit Maximum Hotspot Connections
If your Huawei phone's mobile hotspot allows up to eight devices to connect at once, uninvited users or unnoticed background traffic can quietly eat into your mobile data plan. Lowering the connection cap gives you a clearer picture of who is actually using your hotspot and how much data each session pulls.
Enable or Disable Quick Calling
On some Huawei phones, holding the volume down key and saying a contact name starts a call even while the screen is off. If that happens by accident in your pocket, or if you want that shortcut but cannot find it, the Quick calling function is the setting responsible.
Mark All Messages as Read
Scrolling through dozens of unread chats in the Messages app on a Huawei phone takes forever if you have to open every single conversation. The unread badge on the app icon can also stay stuck even after you already caught up on the messages elsewhere. A single menu option clears every unread flag in one tap, without touching the content of your chats.
Back Up to Google Drive
If you are not sure whether your Huawei phone is actually saving contacts, photos, and app data anywhere, the Back up to Google option in system settings might be switched off. Without an active backup account selected, restoring your data after a factory reset or device swap becomes much harder.
Restrict App Downloads to WiFi Only
If apps keep downloading or updating over your mobile connection and eating into your data plan, the Play Store app download preference is likely set to allow any network. This setting exists separately from your phone's general mobile data controls, so switching off mobile data elsewhere will not stop it. Set Default SIM for Mobile Data

Enable Smart Data Saver for Individual Apps
If messaging apps stop pushing notifications or emails only load after you open them manually on your Huawei phone, Smart Data Saver is probably throttling their background data. Once the feature is turned on, every app loses background access to mobile data unless you add it to the exception list. Apps you rely on for real-time updates need to be excluded manually, otherwise they only refresh when active in the foreground.
