Turn personal hotspot on or off
You can use your Huawei device as a hotspot, so other devices can have an internet connection over your device. There are more settings available, like giving your hotspot a name and create an own password.





- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Tethering & portable hotspot
- Tap on Personal hotspot
- Activate or deactivate Personal hotspot
Configure personal hotspot
You can customize your personal hotspot by giving the hotspot a new name and password. This means also more security and will deny access of strangers. If someone wants to connect to your hotspot, they will have to ask you for your password first. You can also set up a maximum of connections and a shutdown timer for inactive connections.







- Open the settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Tethering & portable hotspot
- Tap on Personal hotspot
- Tap on Configure hotspot
- Activate Show advanced options
- Set a hotspot name, a password, change the encryption type or the max connections allowed and confirm with OK
Mobile hotspot turn-off timer
We can activate a shutdown timer for the mobile hotspot on the Huawei smartphone to automatically disable the feature after a specified period of inactivity. We have the following options to set up:
- After 5 minutes of inactivity
- After 10 minutes of inactivity
- Never








- Open the Settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Tethering & portable hotspot
- Tap on Personal hotspot
- Tap on Configure hotspot
- Tap on Mobile hotspot turn-off timer
- Choose 5 / 10 minutes of inactivity or Never
- Tap on OK
Set band for access point
By default, the Huawei smartphone selects 2.4 GHz as its hotspot frequency band, which is also supported by all WLAN devices, but to provide faster data
transfer, the 5.0 GHz band can be activated, which is supported by most newer devices.









- Open the Settings
- Tap on Mobile network
- Tap on Tethering & portable hotspot
- Tap on Personal hotspot
- Tap on Configure hotspot
- Enable Show advanced options
- Tap on AP band
- Choose 2,4 GHz or 5GHz
- Confirm with OK
Set data limit
If we activate a mobile hotspot on the Huawei smartphone, we can set a data limit to keep an overview of our own data volume. Once the set data volume is reached, the device automatically turns off the mobile hotspot. If it is enabled again afterwards, the consumption is automatically reset to start counting again.

- Choose a data limit
Maximum allowed connections
The mobile hotspot on the Huawei-smartphone allows bin to eight connections, but a maximum limit can also be set to keep a better eye on the connected devices and data consumption.
