Enable or Disable Accented Characters auf Huawei
On Huawei phones running EMUI, letters with accent options show extra characters when you press and hold them on the SwiftKey keyboard. If that popup does not appear, or appears inconsistently, the underlying toggle for accented characters has likely been switched off, either manually or after a keyboard update.
This setting lives inside the keyboard configuration, not in the general language settings, which is why it is easy to miss. It only decides if the long-press popup shows up at all. It does not change which accents exist for a letter or how autocorrect handles accented words.
To check or change it, follow this path:
Open the settings ➔ Tap on System & updates ➔ Tap on Language & input ➔ Tap on SwiftKey Keyboard ➔ Tap on Typing ➔ Tap on Keys ➔ Activate or deactivate Accented characters
If you type mostly in one language without accents, turning this off can make typing feel slightly faster, since letters register immediately without waiting for a possible long-press. If you regularly write in a language that relies on accented letters, keep it enabled so the popup stays available.
If accents still do not show up after enabling the option, check whether a different keyboard app is set as default, since this setting only applies to SwiftKey.
