Activate or Deactivate a SIM Card auf Huawei
Dual-SIM on Huawei phones lets you keep two numbers active at once, but sometimes you only want one line reachable. Deactivating a SIM card is a software switch: the card stays in the tray, contracts and contacts remain untouched, but the number stops handling calls, texts and mobile data.
This is different from removing the physical card. A removed card also goes offline, but you lose the slot entirely and any apps tied to that SIM (like a work eSIM profile) may show errors. Deactivating through settings keeps everything ready for a quick switch back.
Where to find the switch
Go to Open the settings ➔ Tap on Mobile network ➔ Tap on SIM management ➔ Activate or deactivate the SIM card. Select the SIM slot you want to change and toggle it off.
While a SIM is deactivated, callers hear it as unreachable or switched off, and messages queue on the network side until you reactivate it. If you rely on that number for two-factor codes or banking alerts, reactivate it before expecting those messages.
If your goal is just to silence notifications temporarily, muting the SIM in your notification settings is often less disruptive than deactivating the whole line.
