Turn Auto-Download for MMS On or Off auf Huawei
By default, Huawei phones running EMUI download MMS attachments as soon as a multimedia message lands in your inbox. This happens over mobile data unless you are connected to Wi-Fi, which means large photos or videos in group chats can use up data without any confirmation from you.
Where the setting lives
The control sits in the advanced settings of the Messages app, not in the general system settings. Go to Open Messages ➔ Open the menu ➔ Open the settings ➔ Tap on Advanced ➔ Activate or deactivate Auto-downloading MMS.
What changes when you disable it
Turning the option off does not block MMS messages. You still see that a message arrived, but attachments stay unloaded until you tap them manually. This gives you control over when data gets used, which is useful on limited or roaming plans.
If you disable auto-download and later notice missing photos or videos in old conversations, open the message and download the attachment by hand. There is no separate setting for Wi-Fi-only downloading; the toggle applies to all connections once switched off.
